Here’s the last of the Spoon it’s that I received from the folks at Nissin Foods, USA. Sounded like something good for lunch. Anyways, let’s get to it!
Here’s the back and side panels. Remember this is a box and comes with three packages of seasoning and noodles.
These are tasty on their own – like a snack thing – probably would be good with the seasoning sprinkled on and eaten raw as well!
One of the three seasoning packets. I like the design of these. If I took all the images I have of them and put em’ together, it’d probably look like a Warhol.
Here’s the seasoning – all ready to go.
Finished. Added some chicken lunch meat, a little kizami shoga (pickled ginger), a can of mixed veggies and a liberal dose of Texas Pete Hot Sauce. I think I’ll have to say I liked the creamy chicken flavor the best of the Spoon it line. This one has the same noodles, but that creaminess made that one a lot more enjoyable. This has a decent chicken taste though, and again I do like these noodles – cooked or uncooked. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 070662070024 .

Here’s another one of the big JML bowls sent by Michelle L. of Tarrytown, New York. Mushroom chicken eh? Alright, let’s give this a try.
Side info panels.
An included fork!
One angry and round noodle block – sometimes they’re hard to get out of the containers.
The powder seasoning packet.
I’m not sure if powdered mushroom is the culprit, but this stuff smelled like burnt plastic. I decided to have a taste. It also tasted like burnt plastic. Not good.
Seasoned oil packet.
This one kind of smells like mushrooms and chicken.
Veggie packet.
Here they are – decent amount.
Finished. Added a hard boiled egg with some Cavender’s Greek Seasoning, some kizami shoga (pickled ginger), some of my veggie mix (ack! time to go back to the produce stand – we’re out!), a little chicken lunch meat and a bit of Texas Pete Hot Sauce. The noodles are okay but not exceptional. The broth has this flavor. I don’t really like it at all; it’s mushroom-like but not mushroom. It’s got this flavor that actually does remind me of the smell of burning plastic. It’s also almost spicy in a weird way. I will finish this bowl of noodles as I am hungry, but I tell you what – this is pretty bad. 1.25 out of 5.0 stars. 6921555583951.
I don’t think these guys would really like this either.
The Music of China’s Nomads – Part 5: The Kyrgyz of Kokterek
I’ve got to just say it – wow! They sent us a huge box of neat noodle knick knacks and other Ningshim niceties! This is pretty epic – check it out! By the way – I think this has to be the coolest packing tape in existence!
They sent two of everything one for me and one for my wife.
A hat and an apron!
These are unique – so you put your Bowl Noodle on the tray in the microwave so you can pull it out easier. The spoons are great – really curious about how they are to use.
The measuring cups are gonig to be used daily – I really like how the mL is so easy to read and goes all the way up to 600 – that’s awesome when you eat a different instant noodle every day! So who’s the guy on the cup and the magnets? His name is Senor Fideo (Mr. Noodles!)
This is cool – chopstick helper!
A nice travel mug.
A rad coaster, a frisbee and a ton of reusable shopping bags. The town we live in has outlawed those single use plastic bags, so these are awesome and get a lot of use!
A little backpack that mentions the L.A. Dodgers.
Some really nice shirts and hoodies! Wow!
This is so awesome! Some of you might remember that Eric Z. of Florida sent me a pair of Shin Ramyun socks a long time ago – the toe part on those are black and so now there’s all three types! A sock trifecta!
This has to be a raddest belt buckle I’ve ever seen. Wow!
Finally, they sent us a couple of nice camping chairs! Very nice since my boy’s birthday is this weekend and we could use a little extra seating! Thanks to everyone at Nongshim America – this is amazing and we both thank you very, very mcuh!
Here’s something really new and very different from a lot of the instant noodles I’ve reviewed before. Jinjja Jinjja translates to “Really Really” (Spicy Spicy) – and I suppose in this review we’re going to find out how really really spicy Jinjja is! I should say that I sampled this one at Nongshim America while I was down there, so I have tried it before – but not a while bowl of it. I found out that the flavor comes from boiling pork bones for a long time, black beans and peanuts! It also turns out that the wheat flour used to make these has some red pepper powder added to them – heat in the noodle as well as from the dry seasonings! Let’s give this a try!
Here’s the back of the package. As you can see, it’s in Korean – it will be available in the United States soon. On Nongshim USA’s facebook page, they’re asking for suggestions as to what to call this in the states!
The big round noodle block – ready to rumble!
Here’s the heat – big red packet full of powder!
Took a pinch to taste before cooking – yeah this is spicy that’s for sure! Has a nice flavor to it too.
Here’s a packet that I imagine will have the peanut component to it.
Indeed it does – a nice peanut flavor and very fine powder.
Finally, the vegetable packet.
A myriad of thin, light and colorful veggie flakes.
Finished. Soon as it was done, my nose was happily greeted by the peanut smell. Then I dug in! First, the noodles: nice. They’re a little chewy and a perfect gauge to them. Not crumbly, not stiff – just right. The broth: first off, it’s spicy. Really really spicy! Underneath the heat lies a complex flavor of saltiness and spices that balance very nicely. Usually I’ve found that with instant noodle varieties that are about heat are not so much about flavor – this one is spicy as well as tasty. The veggies are there and in a decent amount. I would think this would be great with a little shredded pork, an egg and some extra veggies as well – and I think next time I may try it with a slice of processed cheese. This is good stuff – my lips are happily burning! Bottom line: If you like it spicy, you’ll be pleased! 4.75 out of 5.0 stars! UPC bar code 8801043017916 .
Here’s a TV commercial for Jinjja Jinjja – the two men are ‘cultwo’ – famous comedians Kim tae-kwyun and Jung Chan-woo.
I got two shipments today – one from Nongshim America, which I visited last week (there’ll be a lot of stuff all about the visit, the plant tour and the people very soon!). Here’s the first one from Nongshim America!
Hey look at that! Shin Ramyun Black in a big cup! Plus, it’s onion flavor! Also, notic in the box there’s a couple packs of the new Jinjja Jinjja! Also what’s this? Soba? I’m extremely interested in trying these out – never knew they made this! Thanks go to Ray Adams and all the nice folks at Nongshim America! Can’t wait to try these out!
Yesterday, the mailman knocked on our door and had me sign for a box from Korea – samples of a new product called Jinjja Jinjja (which translates to Really Really (Spicy Spicy). I had the opportunity to try it during my tour at Nongshim America last week and boy are they good! I’ll be doing a full in-depth review of them shortly.
It felt like the box just had noodles inside but I was happily surprised! They were kind enough to send some posters and cardboard advertising pieces too!
Awesome! Another reusable grocery bag! Really like these.
They also sent a box with promotional items pertaining to Hooroorook and their new spokesperson, K-Pop star IU.
Last but not least, an apron and triangular hair-holding thing (my wife was kind enough to take the picture and tie it on my head!)! Can’t wait to do a review of these noodles!!! Thanks to Daehyun Song and everyone at Nongshim Korea for sending this along!
I was digging in the bottom of the noodle hamper and pulled this one out – pretty old and needs ingested ASAP! It’s one my sister picked up for me in Canada last year. Very small pack too! Let’s give it a try.
Looks like a lot of liquid for such a small packet – perhaps I ought to add the recommended additions.
A portion of the noodle block.
One shiny silver packet.
The powder soup base.
Finished. I added an egg, some of my veggie mix and some corned beef lunch meat. So the noodles are a slight bit mushy but of a slightly wider gauge than most. The broth has a nice beef flavor – and there’s a ton of broth. This is definitely a soup affair. Not bad, not amazing or something to write home about. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars.
