Re-Review: Ve Wong Kung Fu Artificial Chicken Flavor Instant Oriental Noodle Soup

The other day we walked over to 99 Ranch Market and my son bought some kamaboko and three packs of instant noodles. This is one of the packs he picked out.

Here’s the back of the package (click to enlarge).

The noodle block.

The single seasoning packet.

Yellowish seasoning. Salty and chickenny.

Finished. Added broccoli, bell pepper and kamaboko. The noodles have an okay texture, but they have a funky flavor I didn’t like. The broth however is quite good – with bits of onion and a nice chicken flavor. too bad about the noodles – 2.75 out of 5.0 stars.UPC bar coder 4710008211648 – get it here.

#448: Ve Wong Kung-Fu Artificial Sesame Chicken Flavor Instant Oriental Noodle Soup

Here we have some noodles from Vietnam. I got these during the trip to California in Pleasanton. I’m figuring these won’t be too bad –  in my time as a noodle reviewer, I must say that chicken flavor is pretty hard to screw up. So let’s see what we have here!

Powdered seasoning on the left, oil on the right. I figure it’s a very large sachet of sesame oil from the color and the fact that its sesame chicken flavor….

My thoughts on the oil were correct – sesame oil for sure. What I didn’t expect was the aroma of ginger from the chicken seasoning packet – that was very nice to experience for sure!

Added one fried egg. The noodles weren’t too bad but a little on the mushy side. The broth was great – a kind of chicken ginger sesame amalgam that was very enjoyable and the ebb was welcomed by all. Excellent! 3.75 out of 5.0 stars!

#447: Ve Wong Little Prince Brand Snack Noodles Bacon Flavor

So I wasn’t sure what this was at first – I figured by the color that they were shrimp flavored or something. Then I looked below and saw…

Bacon? Oh sweet! Jackpot! Receive bacon! Twenty little five gram baggies of bacon flavor noodle snacks!

Here’s one of the little bags. They’re very small and a quick snack to remind you that you are going to be hungry later and that bacon is tasty.

Bacon tasty noodle snack unveiled. So how did it taste? Freakin’ awesome – like bacon flavored little bits of crunchy noodles! I’m wondering if it would be worth it to try and add them to some boiling water and make bacon ramen with them… I dunno. I will say this though – they’re excellent. 4.75 out of 5.0 stars!

#418: iNoodle Udon Noodle Soup Oriental Style Flavor

So here’s something new from the fresh noodle section. Never heard of this brand before and looks interesting.

Two packets – Looks like a paste and some veggies.

The finished product. This one called for an egg to be dropped in with the cooking noodles! I like that. So the broth is pretty good – light and flavorful. The veggies are very complimentary. The udon itself is your standard good fresh stuff. I liked it – 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.
