Re-Review: Nissin Top Ramen Cucharealo Home-Style Tomato Chicken Flavor Ramen Noodle Soup

Thought I’d try this one again – it’s pretty sad – I have nothing new to review! Looking forward to some new varieties coming soon though hopefully! A couple from the UK have informed me that they’re sending a treasure trove of interesting varieties! Can’t wait! In the meantime, here’s the elusive Cucharealo – haven’t seen it for sale anywhere yet. Good stuff! Here’s the original review here.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added a fried egg, cheese, Taxes Pete hot sauce, sweet onions, chicken lunch meat and Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. The noodles are great – short and there’s tons of them. The broth has a really nice tomato taste with a hit of cumin. Great stuff! Gonna give it a 3.5 out of 5.0 stars yet again. UPC bar code 070662081013 .

This place was amazing when I was a kid; you could put your hand on the window outside and it would make the train inside move! I miss the old guard of the enormous department store.

#849: Nissin Top Ramen Cucharealo Home-Style Tomato Chicken Flavor Ramen Noodle Soup

Here’s another one of the new varieties that Nissin Foods USA sent me earlier this month to review. I got a comment from someone saying Cucharealo means ‘spoon it up.’ Makes sense – Nissin has a similar product called ‘Spoon it’ with flavors like chicken, beef and beet stew while the Cucharealo line is more hitting the Mexican flavors. The last one I tried was awesome – let’s give this one a try!

The side and back panels – click to enlarge.

Short, thin noodles.

A single seasoning packet.

I gave it a taste – has a slightly tangy tomato taste.

Finished. Added onion, red bell pepper, some over roasted chicken, Krazy Mixed Up Salt, a fried egg, Crystal hot sauce and some cheddar cheese. The noodles thin and short – definitely good for a spoon. The broth is pretty good – has a good tomato flavor. Not bad! 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 070662081013 .

New Product Samples From Nissin Foods, USA

So I got an email from my contact at Nissin Foods in Gardena California mentioning a package was sent. What could it be?

Hey a big box of heavy bubble wrap! I love bubble wrap – wait, bubble wrap isn’t heavy – what’s underneath it?

What’s this?! Okay so they’ve got two new products that look interesting. First is Nissin Top Ramen Short Cuts. What it is are the seasoned short noodles – like the Spoon-It or the ones you find in the Nissin Big Cup Noodles. The box has a big bag (4 1/2 cups) of the pre-seasoned noodles. Basically, it’s instant noodles meets the portion sizing ability of instant potatoes. Also, other than Top Ramen packs, I think this is the first thing they’ve used the Top Ramen name on before! They come in Chicken, Roast Chicen, Beef and Lime Chili.

The other new addition is called Nissin Top Ramen Cucharealo. I’m not sure what Cucharealo means, but it’s obviously for the latino market – some great sounding flavors include Home-style Picante Chicken, Tomato-Chicken and Habanero Shrimp.

Looking forward to reviewing all of these in the future!

#736: Maruchan Yakisoba Spicy Vegetable Flavor Homestyle Japanese Noodles

Haven’t done one of these in a while! This is another one donated by Ramen Place. Spicy vegetable huh? That’s a kind of weird flavor. I have seen vegetable / vegetarian flavor and then spicy varieties, but not usually spicy vegetable. Well, let’s try it out!

Here’s the bottom…

Here’s the inner lid.

The bid rectangular noodle block!

Packet one – the vegggies!

Lots of veggies be here!

Here’s the seasoning – this gets stirred in after the cooking.

The seasoning is plentiful.

My boy Andy had some noodles too! He picked Sapporo Ichiban Shio!

Finished. Added some veggies we got locally, a little chicken lunch meat, a hard boiled egg, some pickled ginger, some Ajishima Kimchi furikake, some Krazy Mixed Up Salt and a little Huy Fong Sriracha chili sauce. Not bad – I liked the noodles and they did have a bit of a spiciness to them – not a lot though. The veggies were quite good. I added a tiny bit more water than called for – our microwave is a mean old cus and ultra powerful so I think that’s the safe way to go – not a ton but maybe 1/32 cup or so. All things considered, not bad – 3.25 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 041789007095 – get it here.
