#865: Little Cook Instant Noodles Stewed Duck Flavor

Stewed duck flavor time. This one came from Michelle L. of New York – thanks again! This is the last of the ones she sent – let’s give it a try.

Side panels. Click to enlarge.

The noodle block.

Seasoning powder and bits.

See? There are bits in there too.

Seasoned oil.

Pretty hard to see but its in there!

Finished Noodles were slightly crumbly – not bad though. The broth was dark and very strong – very sweet and spiced and ducky. Not a big fan of duck ramens but this isn’t too bad. 3.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 8852098702135 – no

#842: JML Instant Noodle Artificial Stew Beef Flavour

Here’s a big bowl of noodles sent a while back by Michelle L. of New York. Stew beef sounds good to me!

Side panels.

A fork!

A good sized noodle block.

Powder seasoning.

Very light powder.

Paste packet.

Pretty thick stuff!

Veggie packet.

Looks like a nice smattering.

Finished. Added a fried egg with some Krazy Mixed Up Salt, some red bell pepper, broccoli and onions, and a little roast beef I sauteed with a touch of Cavender’s All Purpose Greek Seasoning. Noodles are slightly spongy but all in all pretty good. The broth is really good – has a great beef flavor with just the right amount of oil. Veggies were decent. A nice big bowl of noodles! Well done! 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 6921555571866 – get it here.

#821: Master Kong/康师傅 Potatoes & Stewed Beef Instant Noodles

This rather unassuming package of ramen came from Bo H. of China. I don’t know if this is exactly what this is called, but I hope it comes close to its name in taste. Potatoes aren’t something commonly found when it comes to instant noodles; there’s sweet potato noodles and potato noodles, but really nothing that involved potato flavor.

The back of the packaging.

Was originally a round block it appears.

The powder seasoning.

Lots of powder.

The paste packet.

I had a little taste – it definitely has a peanut component.

A small packet of bits and pieces…

Very small amount but we’ll see…

Finished. Added vegetables, some roast beef lunch meat and some Huy Fong Sriracha chili sauce. So the noodles are nice and plump. The broth and noodles come together masterfully and this honestly tastes so good I’m going to say I’m truly sad I don’t have any more of it! It literally tastes like a dish centering on beef and potatoes. I love it. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars – hands down awesome stuff. The bits and pieces weren’t bad either although very scant. UPC bar code 6903252010947 .

#815: Chencun Stewde Chicken Of Mushroom

See? it really says it right there – stewde chicken of mushroom! I think this has to be one of my favorite misspellings yet! My sister brought me this back from Canada earlier this year. Let’s have a look!

Side panels.

A folding fork! See more of ’em on the Included Forks page!

The noodle block. A large clump of rice noodles. I’m curious if they’ll be stiff and chewy of nice and free-flowing of edibility.

Powder seasoning.

Interesting – has a slightly granular appearance.

The liquid packet.

Looks like a seasoned oil that’s congealed a bit.

Veggie packet.

Looks like a light smattering to me.

Finished. UPC bar code 6911754103395 . Despite steeping for about five minutes, the noodles didn’t seem to completely get all the way done – at least in patches. Those that did get done were soft and enjoyable. The parts that didn’t weren’t hard or anything, they were just not all the way done. The broth has a sort of chicken mushroom taste to it and a surprising thickness as well. The liquid packet is prevalent in the greasiness here. The veggies weren’t bad but more is always preferable. All in all, it is about as I expected; a passable mushroom of chicken – I mean chicken of mushroom… I don’t know but it tasted like a chicken mushroom with wide rice noodles kind of thing to be. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars.

Chicken of the woods eh?

#773: Little Cook Instant Noodle TVP Stewed Pork Flavor

Here’s another one that was sent in by Michelle L. of New York, New York – thanks again! TVP? What’s TVP? Well, I’ve had it quite a few times before. TVP stands for ‘textured vegetable protein’ and is basically fake meat. Usually you couldn’t get pork in a packet coming from Thailand into the states – fake pork on the other hand is doable.

The distributor’s label with nutrition facts.

A side panel – click to enlarge.

Part of the noodle block.

Powdered seasoning packet.

Powdered seasoning with what look to be bits of vegetables strewn in there.

The contents of the oil packet. Forgot to take a picture of the oil packet – it was clear and had the same triangle pattern as the powder packet.

In this big metallic packet is the textured vegetable protein.

I know, but you put ANYTHING in a clear bowl like this and it looks like cat food. It actually smells quite nice.

Finished. Added some mixed veggies and a little kizami shoga (pickled ginger). The noodles are interesting; the word bulbous comes to mind. They’re a little wider with an interestingly puckered texture. Different and good. The broth has a nice pork taste and is reminiscent of a duck flavored instant I had before. The textured vegetable protein chunks are abundant and not too shabby, although they have a little more sponginess than I expected. Again, the duck I had before was closer to a real piece of meat than this was. All in all, not bad – quite a big bowl of noodles for a $1.59 cup! I liked it. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 4710249000841 .
