#562: Batchelors Super Noodles Bacon Flavour

When I mentioned I would be reviewing this to my friend Matthew B., he exclaimed ‘bacon is the opiate of the masses!’ I would have to agree; there is nothing on this planet as good as the prince of foods, bacon. With that, I present for your viewing pleasure, bacon flavored British instant noodles. Thanks again, Cindy!

Yep – bacon flavor! How awesome is that? Mentioning hot sauce on the back was nice to see too!

Here’s the back of the package – this one isn’t one of the ‘cash inside’ contest ones.

The single packet contained a goodly amount of fluffy yellow/brownish powder. Smelled like bacon too!

I think its pretty obvious; I like eggs with my noodles. But I also had to put some toast in the mix on this one to make it a balanced breakfast. Just looking at the noodles themselves, they were of a decent quality, and the sauce/flavor was great! A mild bacon flavor that was quite enjoyable – how awesome is this? Uber awesome. 4.25 out of 5.0 stars! Pick some up here.

#557: Batchelor’s Super Noodles Southern Fried Chicken Flavour

No way, really? Way. Southern frfied chicken. It’s funny because it took the British to come up with a fried chicken flavor of instant noodles! I don’t have a clue why Nissin or Maruchan picks up on this kind of thing and markets it in the US – it’d be so popular here. Alas, I fear they travel the safe road and ‘crazy’ is cheese flavored noodles. I should note though that Maruchan has made a Yakisoba bowl here that is Taco flavored – wish I could get my hands on it!

Here’s the back of the package…

Only one packet. Here’s the front…

…and the tip on the back.

So it smells like chicken fried steak. It really does!

A couple fried eggs with a dash of pepper on top were added. Holy cow – this stuff is a trip – it does kind of taste like the seasoning they use in chicken fried steak – like the Marie Callender’s ones.  It makes sense that it would go well with eggs… The noodles and sauce and flavoring are interesting together – the noodles’ consistency is almost goopy when paired with the sauce that we end up with. It’s pretty good! 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. You can find it on Amazon here.

Awesome commercial.

Okay I dunno if this guy ever gets to cooking it – he’s a yammerer. But hopefully he shows ya how to make it.

#555: Batchelor’s Super Noodles Chinese Chow Mein Flavour

Hey! Some more noodles I got from Cindy C. of Middlesex, UK! Thanks again! So this one’s Chinese Chow Mein. It’s also promising the possibility of currency inside the packet!

Another tip! I really dig this a lot.

Notice on these directions they don’t refer to it as a stovetgop but as ‘on the hob.’ Can someone post a comment if they know about this term?

A mound of powder. I must admit it sure has a funky odor; although it’s somewhat familiar…

The finished product. I figured out what this flavor is – I even have a story. When I was much younger, I would go out and party up a bit and return home late. I’d quietly climb the stairs to the kitchen so I wouldn’t wake anyone up and sequester myself in there, attempting to find a midnight snack. More than once I would take a can of Campbell’s soup – often Vegetable, and a pack of Top Ramen and make it together, then bring it back downstairs and ingest it. Well, that’s what this stuff reminds me of. Unfortunately, it wasn’t all that great then and it isn’t all that great now, except it reminded me of old times, which in itself was nice, but can’t be part of the score really. So this one is going to rate at 2.75 out of 5.0 stars.

A couple of commercials…

#551: Batchelor’s Super Noodles Chicken Flavour

Here we are with another one from England. Looks interesting! Chicken. The flavor that’s usually very boring. Well, let’s see what comes of this one.

Okay first off, this is the first paper packet I’ve ever seen in a noodle pack. Secondly, that tip is a little crazy I do however have an interest in trying that though!

A small pile of yellow powder. So you boil it and the noodles in 300mL water until the noodles suck up all the liquid. It says it’s a noodle and sauce.

How not as I expected this one to be…  The noodles are dare I say ‘fluffy.’ The chicken flavoring is good – the sauce is like a light flavored chicken Rice-a-Roni taste! It works quite well. I liked it – 3.25 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

Hey this is festive…
