#968: Meet The Manufacturer: Annie Chun’s Noodle Express Teriyaki

Here’s another of the Noodle Express line – teriyaki! Teriyaki is one of my favorite foods – nothing like a to go box for lunch. Let’s see how this one from Annie Chun’s stacks up.

The cardboard outer packaging (click image to enlarge).

After you remove the cardboard, this is underneath.

Just like the earlier Noodle Express box, there are three items inside. First, the noodle pack.

The soup base – liquid.

The back of the packet is transparent so you can see how much is in there.

The dry vegetables packet.

Looks like a nice little melange.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added sweet onions, thin sliced turkey breast, stir fry veggies and Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. The noodles are nice and springy and fresh. The flavor was not my favorite, however. The teriyaki has a strong vinegar flavor to it which I imagine is used as a natural preservative. 3.0 out of 5.0 stars. #476: Annie Chun’s All Natural Asian Cuisine Teriyaki Noodle Bowl

My sister got me this one and kindly brought it to me to check out – thank you! So I’ve never tried this brand before, so I guess we’ll have to see how it goes.

Two packets – veggies and teriyaki sauce. One thing – these packets are incredibly large compared to most of the packets I’ve seen in the past.

Here’s the veggie pack resting atop the fresh noodles. What you do is you put the noodles and veggies in the bowl and add a cup of water. Microwave for 90 seconds and then drain off the excess water. After that, put the teriyaki sauce in and stir it up.

I added nothing to this product. Well, I appreciate the hookup sis, but man this stuff is below par! I was excited – the noodles are nice and fresh and the veggies were good looking – the front mentioned spinach and tofu, although I enjoyed the sesame seeds. The thing is that the teriyaki sauce was not very good – very lemony and acidic. I disliked it in the extreme and I feel it absolutely ruined everything. I’m bummed; a better sauce would’ve made this a four star noodle bowl, and sadly it will receive a 1.75 out of 5.0 star score from me. Truly disappointing, but maybe you like it. Find it here.

#214: Maruchan Yakisoba Teriyaki Beef Flavor Home-Style Japanese Noodles

So teriyaki beef. Here we go…

Up to the fill line, 4 minutes of microwave…

Well, not too bad. The only issue is that it didn’t cook very evenly – part of the noodles were perfect, some were a little bit underdone or completely uncooked. I wasn’t all that great. 2.0 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

#142: Nissin Original Chow Mein Teriyaki Beef Flavor with Premium Straight-Cut Noodles

So this is what you’ll find at your local grocery store in the United States. I picked this one up at a dollar store. Looked interesting so thought I’d give it a go. I’m always looking for the exotic and felt I was kind of missing the more domestic and such. How can I be a true Ramen Rater without trying the stuff from across the ocean as well as in my backyard?

Much in tune with the Nissin Yakisoba box I reviewed a couple weeks ago, the instructions are on the package inside as well as the back. This one however has no drain spout. Also, no draining is required – the only instructions are for microwave.

A goo pack and a veggie pack. I stuck the veggies (cough cough – I mean the ‘Premium Seasoning’) in with the noodles, filled up to the extremely helpful and prominent arrow fill line and microwaved for 5 minutes…

In the end, it came out very nicely. The noodles reminded me of Indomie Special to be honest, just a little bit puffier. The veggies inflated a good amount. The goo pack was great – the teriyaki beef was delicious. I must say for a bowl/box of noodles, this was top notch. I’m giving it a 4.5 of 5.0 stars. Some of you might think this high, but I thought this stuff was really good; not in an exotic way but in a oh man I’m hungry this looks okay wow yeah good chit kind of way. Get it here.
