#878: Nissin Top Ramen Short Cuts Lime Chili Flavor Ramen Noodle Soup

So here’s the last of the top Ramen Short Cuts varieties that Nissin Foods USA sent me. Thanks again! Lime chili flavor eh? Sounds interesting. Its kind of funny; I got an email from someone at a company called Citrojugo the other day. Citrojugo is a company in Mexico that makes lime juice. I think they saw one of my reviews mentioned ‘jeruk nipis,’ which is ‘lime juice’ in Indonesian. Well, Citrojugo was curious if my company would be interested in it for my products. I told them that I only review products related to instant noodles, but that I could probably try their stuff and work it into a review of another product, such as marinated chicken with their lime juice. Well, they immediately dispatched a liter of clarified preserved lime juice. Serious stuff! I open it up and stuck my nose in the Nalgene containment vessel and got a real nosefull of powerful lime! I’ll be mentioning more about their stuff in upcoming reviews – haven’t marinated chicken with it yet but will be soon and it should be quite amazing!

Here’s the back as well as the side panels (click to enlarge).

It comes in one single bag! The noodles are pre-seasoned and require no packets, allowing you to make as much or as little as you want.

Look at all those noodles! I will say it again, these are really good straight out of the box – trust me.

Finished. Added some baked chicken breast, onions, broccoli and green bell pepper, medium cheddar cheese, a hard boiled egg with Ajishima Kimchi Furikake and some Huy Fong Sriracha chili sauce. The noodles come out much like egg noodles – although if you read the ingredients, these are indeed made with wheat noodles – not eggs. They’re soft and oplentiful – and tasty., Not chewy; definitely something made specifically for the US market. The broth is good – a strong lime and chili taste which was enjoyable. All in all quite interesting and works well as a base for a meal like this. Of course, I only review the base product before the extras are added in. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars – good stuff! Shangri-la…

Wish Nissin’d give me a call and send me here! Looks so awesome!

#862: Nissin Top Ramen Short Cuts Roast Chicken Flavor Ramen Noodle Soup

Here’s another one of the samples sent to me by Nissin Foods USA! Thanks again! So Roast Chicken flavor… I’m thinking I’m going to have fun with this one… Hmmm… Well, here we go!

Here’s the back of the package – click to enlarge.

The Here’s what’s in the box – a big bag of pre-seasoned noodles!

Here’s what the noodles look like. They’re shorter than what you’d usually expect from Nissin’s top Ramen line, but that’s why these are ‘Short Cuts,’ get it? Okay so since they’re pre-seasoned, they’re easily muched on. This box has some tasty bits in it – very tasty!

Finished. Added a can of grocery store succotash, a scrambled egg, some Krazy Mixed Up Salt and some Cajun Power Garlic Sauce. The noodles are broad and flat. There are so many of them! They’re soft and very ‘comfort food’ group. The broth is nice – thick and flavorful once it stands and has a nice roast chicken flavor. It’s a little tastier than the regular chicken. This is good stuff. 4.25 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 070662075067 .

This is pretty awesome.

This is absolutely awesome.

#843: Nissin Top Ramen Short Cuts Beef Flavor Ramen Noodle Soup

Hey look at this! Something new the folks at Nissin Foods USA sent. I’ve never seen anything like this is the instant noodle world before; it’s kind of like instant potatoes meets instant noodles. You scoop out as much or as little of the noodles as you want (which have the flavoring already infused into them), and then add the mentioned water amount, and there you go! Let’s have a look under the hood of this new product.

Here’s the back and the sides of the box. They put a recipe on the back of each box. I really like the font they used on the left panel for Stove Top and Microwave – very 80’s – awesome!

This is it. No, not a seasoning packet! This is where the noodles are! four and a half cups of them.

Here’s what the noodles look like. I’ll tell you first off, they’re tasty uncooked – I need to stop picking at them or I’ll eat the whole box! They’re pre-seasoned as they said and also short.

Finished. Added some red bell pepper, broccoli, onion and roast beef. The noodles are the new ‘spoonable’ type that can be found in the Big Cup Noodles and the Spoon it products. They are more like the ones that come with the Big Cup Noodle in the way that they already are seasoned. They come out nice – in fact, they come out perfect here. More like short egg noodles. The broth is good too – has a good beef flavor. I would say that these are best ‘with something’ – ad some extras to make it a creation kind of thing. By themselves they are good though, and as I always rate noodles without their additions, I will do so again. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars – decent! Should mention that these have their own facebook page here.UPC bar code 070662075012 .

Hey I wanna try that one too!

New Product Samples From Nissin Foods, USA

So I got an email from my contact at Nissin Foods in Gardena California mentioning a package was sent. What could it be?

Hey a big box of heavy bubble wrap! I love bubble wrap – wait, bubble wrap isn’t heavy – what’s underneath it?

What’s this?! Okay so they’ve got two new products that look interesting. First is Nissin Top Ramen Short Cuts. What it is are the seasoned short noodles – like the Spoon-It or the ones you find in the Nissin Big Cup Noodles. The box has a big bag (4 1/2 cups) of the pre-seasoned noodles. Basically, it’s instant noodles meets the portion sizing ability of instant potatoes. Also, other than Top Ramen packs, I think this is the first thing they’ve used the Top Ramen name on before! They come in Chicken, Roast Chicen, Beef and Lime Chili.

The other new addition is called Nissin Top Ramen Cucharealo. I’m not sure what Cucharealo means, but it’s obviously for the latino market – some great sounding flavors include Home-style Picante Chicken, Tomato-Chicken and Habanero Shrimp.

Looking forward to reviewing all of these in the future!
