#781: Vina Acecook Kingcook Beef Flavour Kimchi Noodle Soup

Here’s one my sister brought back from Canada a while back! Sounded good to me today.

Here’s the back of the package. Never seen pentasodium triphosphate before – sounds extra tasty!

The noodle block.

The single seasoning packet. Again, as last time, I’m surprised to not see more seasoning packets here.

A decent amount of powder.

Finished. Added some veggies including Fresno peppers and some kimchi. Well, the noodles weren’t wonderous in this one. A little weak. The broth was okay – did have a slightly pho flavor. All in all, not all that impressive. 3.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 8934563732165 .

This one’s pretty awesome as far as instant noodle commercials go!

Dude, you’re doing it wrong.

#694: Vina Acecook King Cook Chicken Flavour Kimchi Noodle Soup

Here’s another one that my sister brought me back from

Canada! Today, my son Andy will be enjoying this one. He’s agreed to let me have a couple bites and a slurp of soup to do the review. Thanks, Andy and Sue!

Here’s the back of the package.

Here’s the noodle block.

As I’ve said before, I’m a little surprised to only see a single seasoning packet in with a Vina Acecook product – usually a lot more going on.

Here’s the contents. This one’s interesting – add the noodles to 400ML boiling water for two minutes, then add the seasoning and cook for one more minute.

Finished. Added some naruto and kamaboko as well as one slice of carrot, one slice of bamboo shoot and two small pieces of baby corn, as per the master’s request. The noodles are pretty good – the broth is quite good – it has a nice chicken broth taste to it. I like this stuff – not too shabby. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC barcode 8934563733162 .

#680: Vina Acecook King Cook Shrimp Flavour

Today’s my birthday! Yay! I haven’t had any Vina Acecook in a while so I thought I’d have this one that was in the bags of noodles my sis brought me back from the great white north! Yay! Time fer noodles!

Here’s the back of the package – on the front it touted ‘no MSG’ and on the ingredient list I notice it mentions antioxidants in both the seasoning and the noodles. Interesting.

The noodle block – mid sized.

I’m a little surprised here – only one packet?! Usually there’s at least three in Vina Acecook’s stuff. Hope the one has some splendid flava!

Here’s the dry seasoning.

Finished! I added two fried eggs, some fried shallot, a couple bits of frozen stirfry vegetables and a little of my favorite hot sauce of all time! Let me just say after sampling and reviewing over 275 different hot sauces as The Sauce Rater a few years back, Melinda’s Garlic Habanero is by far my favorite! Okay so first, the noodles. They’re not bad – not great. Kind of on the cheap side. The broth’s getting an ‘okay’ from me. This was a little disappointing, but after adding everything else it was a nice meal. Allin all, kind of meh. 2.75 out of 5.0 stars. UPC barcode 8934563734169 .

People used to care about the space program when I was a kid and now its budget is tiny in comparison. I say end all military spending and split it on NASA and ending poverty- full bellies and Star Trek! Who’s with me?

#641: Vina Acecook Hao Hao Fried Noodles Shrimp & Onion Flavour

Been waiting for a good day to rerview these – they sound really good! I thought I’d try them today to celebrate the CNN article coming out!

Here’s the back of the package.

An oddly shaped noodle block; the noodles had a slight pre-seasoning to them.

From left to right: Powdered seasoning, seasoned oil and veggies/herbs.

Here’s everything. This pack asks you to steep and then drain the noodles and mix well with the seasonings in a bowl.

Finished. I added two fried eggs (soft yolk) with a little pepper and Cavender’s Greek seasoning on top. I also added some fried shallot and Kizami Shoga (pickled ginger). Steeping the noodles made them a little more engorged than I would have liked and the seasonings weren’t as strong as I would have expected. Usually I really like the Vina Acecook line, especially their Hao Hao stuff, but this time it wasn’t as good as usual. 3.0 out of 5.0 stars – good, but not great. UPC barcode 8934563805159 .

Here’s a Vina Acecook commercial.

People being served pig stomach, brains, testes and anus. Disturbing!

#404: Vina Acecook Hảo Hảo Sate Onion Flavour

Hảo Hảo Hảo? I doubt whether John Lee Hooker enjoyed this stuff during his life, but let’s see if it’s any good.

Powdered soup base on the left and seasoned oil on the right.

The noodles are the fried and eat right out of the bag variety – pre-seasoned. That little dry pile is the soup base and the little shiny spot is the oil.

Added two fried eggs and topped them with a little Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning and a couple drops of Crystal Louisiana hot sauce. So this stuff was really tasty – the noodles had a characteristic firmness that I enjoy of the Vina Acecook line. The broth was nice and onionny. No really any veggies here to speak of. The meal was enjoyable – 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.
