#903: Han’s Korea Rice Noodles With Seafood Flavored Soup

Here’s the last of the Han’s Korea trays that I have found. I think seafood sounds good for today. Let’s check it out!

Here’s a close up of the label (click to enlarge).

Here are the rice noodles.

The seasoning packet.

Looks like some chunk tastiness!

Finished (click to enlarge). Added some Costco stir fry veggies, kamaboko, kimchi, hard boiled egg with Krazy Mixed Up Salt and Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. The noodles weren’t too shabby in this one –  although still they were rice noodles and a little tough to break with the lips. The broth is very light – slight seafood flavor and spicy tang to it. Interesting. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 8809037615087 .

We tried kimbap yesterday for the first time – here’s a kimbap restaurant in Korea!

Here’s a lady telling you how to make kimbap. She seems a little caffeinated and strange.

Show Your Noodles #21

If you’re new to The Ramen Rater’s Show Your Noodles, you can email me a picture of some noodles you’ve made, include your name and location and I’ll post it on the Show Your Noodles roundup! Fancy or functional, it doesn’t matter. I mean, you could do literally anything you want with some instant noodles – use your imagination!  Want to be part of the next Show Your Noodles? Just email me at hans@theramenrater.com. Let me know you first name, last initial, and city/state or country! My wife does the judging – here we go!

In first place we have Gillian S. from England –

Hello, my name is Gillian. S from London. I am the girlfriend of Joe who you have spoken to before. He will get back to you about Pot Noodle soon, he is lazy. Anyway, here are some pictures I got him to email me of his work lunches of late, plus a video we made of us making some delicious ramen noodles the other weekend. We bought them whilst shopping at one of the small local oriental supermarkets we like to frequent, after recognising them from your blog. Please excuse us in the video, we are slightly intoxicated. Hope you enjoy!

Here’s Gill & Joe’s video!

In 2nd place, Robert J. from New York

Sapporo Ichiban Chow Mein Ramen from my local Wegmans! They have a very large variety (atleast more than any other store around here) of noodles!
Poached egg with pan fried mushrooms and chicken, topped with “Huy Fong – Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce.” It came with a topping of seaweed sprinkles.
The noodles and powder mix alone were pretty good honestly but I wanted a meal out of it instead of a snack.
I hope to do more of these now knowing we have a huge section at my local store! Also thank you for giving me ideas of what to add to my ramen instead of having just plain boring noodles! Keep up the good work!

Finally in 3rd place, Heidi X. from Germany:

I’m a huge fan of your blog and thus I want to contribute.
So the other day I made some Creamy Mushroom Ramen and took a pic of it…
hope that you can feature it in Show Your Ramen #21!
Thank so much 🙂

Wow – awesome group of submissions this time! Thank you very much! Would like to do this as a weekly thing, so everyone in earshot, contribute some pictures of your noodles for all to see!

The Ramen Rater Challenges PSY To A Ramyun Eating Contest!

10/17/2012

I saw a video recently about PSY being a huge fan of Korean instant ramyun – Nongshim’s Shin Ramyun in particular. He sent a video showing him eating their noodles with a definite excitement and pride. He wants to be the next representative of their products! I got to say, this was really was cool to see. I feel a definite kinship with PSY on this matter – instant ramyun is amazing stuff!

With that, I would like to formally challenge PSY to a friendly Nongshim Shin Cup eating contest! I don’t know exactly how to do a ramyun cup  eating contest as I’ve never been in one or heard of anyone doing one, but I’m sure we could figure it out! Oppan Gangnam Style and Spicy Ramyun Style!

What do you say?

#902: Sunlee Pho Bo Instant Rice Stick Beef Flavour

I reviewed another version of this in #502. It looks like this one is somewhat different; different color packet and a different sized rice noodle chunk. Let’s try it!

Here’s detail of the writing on the label (click to enlarge).

Sweet – forks are rad!

Here’s the rice stick. Like a bird nest.

The powder base.

Lots of fine powder.

Seasoned oil.

The veggie packet.

Nice little assortment.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added the dregs of my freezer bag of green bell pepper and broccoli, some Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake and some Huy Fong Sriracha chili sauce. The noodles are pretty good – easily broken by the lips with a crumbly texture and fun chew. The broth isn’t bad; it has a bit of beef flavor but mostly is overwhelmed by a strong sweet basil flavor. I love sweet basil in real pho noodles, but this just made me want pho take out. The veggies were okay but I wish there were more here and there were some TVP beef bits that were nice additions. All in all, not too shabby but room for improvement. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 761934016535 .

#901: Sarimi Rasa Ayam Bawang

Here’s the next to last of the packs that Meilina K. of Jakarta, Indonesia sent. Hate to see them running out – so good! This one’s onion chicken flavor. Let’s check it out!

Here’s the back of the package (click to enlarge).

Here’s some of the noodle block.

Here’s the dry seasoning packets – chili powder and powder base.

Here is the chili powder atop the powder base.

Here’s the seasoned oil packet.

Has a nice aroma – chicken and onion.

Finished. Added some broccoli, turkey breast, hard boiled egg with Krazy Mixed Up Salt, some Dua Belibis chili sauce and a little of the new Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. The noodles are pretty good – nothing to write home about but nice. The broth was excellent – nice color, great onion and chicken taste with a little spicy hit from the chili powder. Good stuff! 3.5 out of 5.0 stars! UPC bar code 089686017076 .
