#907: Nongshim Neoguri Spicy Seafood Flavor Cup

Here’s something new – Neoguri Spicy in a cup! Kind of interesting; Neoguri usually has a wider Udon-like noodle and I don’t know that I’ve seen anything like that in a cup form before. Well, let’s have a look.

Sure enough, the noodles are much wider than what you’d find in a regular cup noodle..

Bits from the bottom of the cup. Looks like kamaboko and seaweed amongst other things of the sea.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added some onions, kamaboko, odeng kimchi, a slice of processed cheese and a little sprinkle of Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. The noodles are great – they are nice and wide and very hearty. Must say I’ve never seen noodles like these in a cup – unique! The broth is nice – a deep and rich seafood taste and a nice trademark spiciness. The added bits of kamaboko and nori are festive and the big chunk of kelp is very nice too. I grew up in a small town on an island in northwest Washington state and always was close to the ocean – the kelp reminds me of that. #857: Sempio Seafood Vermicelli Soup Anchovy Flavor

Here’s an interesting one: you empty everything into the bowl, add boiling water and poof – it’s done. They’re called it ‘no wait.’ Let’s give it a try.

Looks like a decent amount of veggies.

Finished. Added onion, odeng (Korean fish cake) and some Sylvia’s hot sauce. The noodles are slightly mushy but they work really well – enjoyable. The broth is full of seafood flavor – very strong. The vegetables and bits have such niceties as narutomaki bits here and there. Not bad! 4.25 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 8801005550710 – get it here.

Re-Review: Meet The Manufacturer: Nongshim Kal Guk Soo Korean Style Noodle Soup

I reviewed this about a year ago – at number 442. Well, let’s give it another review! It’s a bit different than other instants I’ve had from Nongshim. Here’s what it says on their website:

Kal Guk Soo is a light soothing traditional Noodle Soup made with a calcium-rich anchovy soup base with zucchini, green onion and egg flakes. The noodles are not fried making it even better for those who prefer a less heavy meal.

Let’s give it a try!

Here’s why: the noodles are different. Look to be broad and flat.

Looks like a nice mix of veggies.

Finished. I added some onion, some Odeng, a little Fresno pepper and some Ajishima Kimchi Furikake. Hey this is good stuff! The noodles are indeed broad and flat and very different from the usual ones I’ve had from Nongshim varieties. They have a light firmness and are very good. The broth is full of anchovy flavor and very tasty.  The veggies are good too – they fit the dish well. I like this a lot – last time I gave it 4.0 stars, this time I think it’s getting 4.5 out of 5.0. I could eat this all day! UPC bar code 031146157358 .

#328: Nong Shim Big Bowl Udon Japanese Style Noodle Soup

Ladies and gentlemen, the enormous Ramen Box has been opened and we begin. This one comes from Korea.

A single packet of powdered soup base.

Holy cow look at this one! There’s the big pile of seasoning powder in the middle, but look at all this other stuff! Wow, I’m thoroughly impressed – I wasn’t expecting to see this much stuff going on here. Neat little naruto slices, sliced fish stuff, and fried somethings. I would love to know what all these things are! Lots of veggies too – carrot and onion and more.

Bamm finished product. Mmm… The noodles are nice – chewy and thick… Was nice to find a lot of pieces of fish and veggies with every bite! This is a rarity in the instant noodle world I assure you. The broth had a very nice seafood taste and was very nice. I really was impressed with this one and give it 4.5 out of 5.0 stars! Get it here.

#185: Shirakiku Fresh Japanese Style Udon Sanukiya Udon

MMMMMM – fresh udon! Plus, its being enjoyed while we watch the Maury show and watch people yell and freak out at eachother.

So the noodles and liquid go in the bowl with water and gets microwaved for 3 minutes. After that, some stirring and the flake packet go in…

So here’s the finished product… Good stuff! First off, if you get the backstage hug from Maury Povich, you know you’ve fucked up. Well, no hugs for the Shirakiku Sanukiya Udon! This stuff is very tasty. The noodles are chewy and ample. The veggies are a little mushy but have a nice taste, and the broth is perfect. I’m giving this a 3.75 out of 5.0 stars – it has some serious tasty flavor! Get it here.
