#746: JML Artificial Mushroom Chicken Flavour Instant Noodle (Large Bowl)

Here’s another one of the big JML bowls sent by Michelle L. of Tarrytown, New York. Mushroom chicken eh? Alright, let’s give this a try.

Side info panels.

An included fork!

One angry and round noodle block – sometimes they’re hard to get out of the containers.

The powder seasoning packet.

I’m not sure if powdered mushroom is the culprit, but this stuff smelled like burnt plastic. I decided to have a taste. It also tasted like burnt plastic. Not good.

Seasoned oil packet.

This one kind of smells like mushrooms and chicken.

Veggie packet.

Here they are – decent amount.

Finished. Added a hard boiled egg with some Cavender’s Greek Seasoning, some kizami shoga (pickled ginger), some of my veggie mix (ack! time to go back to the produce stand – we’re out!), a little chicken lunch meat and a bit of Texas Pete Hot Sauce. The noodles are okay but not exceptional. The broth has this flavor. I don’t really like it at all; it’s mushroom-like but not mushroom. It’s got this flavor that actually does remind me of the smell of burning plastic. It’s also almost spicy in a weird way. I will finish this bowl of noodles as I am hungry, but I tell you what – this is pretty bad. 1.25 out of 5.0 stars. 6921555583951.

I don’t think these guys would really like this either.

The Ramen Rater Really Meets The Manufacturer On Nongshim USA Trip!

Tomorrow, my wife and I are headed to the airport to fly down to the Nongshim USA plant in Rancho Cucamonga, California! There, we’re going to do a plant tour, a noodle tasting, and a videotaped interview for the next Meet The Manufacturer, which (you guessed it) will feature Nongshim. We’ll return on Saturday with stories and pictures – I might do a post while we’re down there from my phone possibly.  I want to say thank you to the wonderful folks at Nongshim USA for this opportunity to learn more about their company and instant noodles! We’re really looking forward to this! Next stop, southern California.

#739: JML Artificial Spicy Beef Flavour Instant Noodle (Large Bowl)

Here’s one of a slew of JM big bowls that Michelle L. or Tarrytown, New York sent – thank you very much! I was originally introduced to JML noodles by another noodle donor, Greg B. from Marathon, Florida last year. I liked them them – let’s give ’em a try bowl style!

Here’s the info from the side panels.

Hey look – an included fork to add to the Included Forks list!

Noodle block.

The powder seasoning.

Quite a bit of it. Note the beef like color.

Liquid soup base.

Quite a bit of this stuff too. Tasted a little and it was spicy!

Veggies!

Nice little veggie party going on here.

Finished. Added some of the stir fry mix we made, some beef lunch meat, a two egg omelet with some cheese, some Krazy Mixed Up Salt, pickled ginger and Ajishima Kimchi furikake. The noodles aren’t bad – not the best as they’re slightly weak, but not bad. The broth – molten lava! My lips be burning! Not only hot but very nice flavor – kind of greasy but in a decent way. Veggie weren’t too shabby. You like it hot? You’ll like this. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 6921555571569 – here’s the bag version in 5 packs.

Here’s a JML commercial!

So to recdap, V-Pop, K-Pop, J-Pop, This is a C-Pop video now from (you guessed it) China.

#487: Kailo Brand Big Bowl Noodle Instant Noodle Artificial Chicken Flavour

Here’s a new brand – Kailo! This is a big bowl of noodles too – and what an odd image on the front. But hey, how can chicken be fouled (it’s already been fowled HAHAHAHAHA – bad I know but I’m full of noodles now) it’s such a basic flavor.  So here we go! UPDATE – This stuff is actually ABALONE CHICKEN – that explains a lot.

Clockwise from top left: seasoned oil, powder soup base, veggies.

What surprises me here is how much water this thing wants… I guess we shall see what happens…

Added two eggs (fried). Wow – this one ended up with a lot of noodles – a LOT of noodles! The noodles aren’t bad; a little mushy I spose but not bad. The veggies are interesting; not bad but taste a little odd. The broth is strange; I don’t know how to explain; maybe chickens taste different in Hong Kong but it’s kinda weird. But not bad. It’s different. Yes, different. So for a rating… Hmmm… I think a 2.75 out of 5.0 is about right here. It’s got its pluses and minuses. Get it here.

Couldn’t find a commercial but this looked cool.

#438: Samyang Ramen Beef Flavor Big Bowl Noodle Soup

So here’s something good I’m sure! Haven’t ever seen this popular Korean beef ramen in a big bowl before – let’s try it!

One big packet for one big bowl of noodles!

So I reviewed Nong Shim Kimchi Big Bowl yesterday and it had the same configuration – one big packet and the veggies were loose in he bowl. This one’s got a ton of them too!

Added two fried eggs. This came out beautifully. The broth has a little spicyness to it and the noodles suck it up. The vegetables are plentiful and re-hydrate very nicely. I loved this stuff – 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.
