New Year’s Package From Nissin Foods USA

Got an email telling me a package had arrived last week. It was from Scott A. over at Nissin Foods USA! Wonder what is inside…

A big box…

I sent a list over to Scott a while back with all of the Nissin products I’d reviewed and asked if there were any domestic varieties I hadn’t hit. He sent all the ones I hadn’t found!

Magnets!

Lots of cool posters!

A little box…

This is really cool – a little leather planner!

Already using this for notes on The Ramen Rater!

What’s this you ask? This is something I’ve wanted to check out for a long time. Nissin Raoh is a premium instant from Japan that I’ve not seen here. I’ll be reviewing it on Saturday, January 19th – which is Momofuku Ando Day! I’ll do a special video review – stay tuned! Also, if you want to take some pictures of the noodles you make, you can email them to me – hans@theramenrater.com – and they’ll be included in the special Momofuku Ando Day Show Your Noodles! Thanks to Scott A. and everyone over at Nissin Foods USA for the nice package – thank you very much.

#947: Maruchan Yakisoba Jalapeno Cheddar Flavor

Merry Christmas Eve! Thought today I would go a little festive with my review. What does Jalapeno Cheddar instant yakisoba have to do with Christmas? Well, I don’t know but it just seemed like the right thing to do. You’ll see – trust me you’ll see. This is one I was looking for for a long time and my lovely wife Kit found it at the Grocery Outlet! Rad!

The bottom of the package (click image to enlarge).

Here’s what’s under the plastic wrap on top.

The noodle block.

The seasoning packet – rather large.

A lot of powdery cheese flavor! Has an interesting taste – I like it!

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added red bell pepper, onion, green beans, scrambled egg that was cooked in a tree shaped cookie cutter, Dua Belibis chili sauce and Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. Wow this is craziness. The noodles are nice – flat and broad with a nice consistency. The flavor’s great – like a spicy mac’n’cheese – and it’s decently spicy as well. Good stuff – I’m honestly surprised I haven’t seen it more than once, especially since its a product made domestically. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. Merry Christmas! UPC bar code 041789007675

Here’s a video about using Maruchan noodles to make mac’n’cheese

Maruchan has been posting a lot of these videos lately – nice to see people doing neat things with instant noodles!

Re-Review: emart Dare You! Habanero Ramen

Was thinking about what to have for lunch and the big box of 48 packs of this stuff told me to have one! So I did. Here’s the original review I did recently.

Click image to enlarge. I added sweet onion, a little peanut butter, processed cheese and odeng. Adding all of those things still doesn’t put the heat down – pretty amazing! I still say this is the absolutely hottest stuff out there! Top of the Top Ten Spiciest Instant Noodles Of All Time! The noodles are awesome – great quality and chew. The broth is so spicy; words are hard to describe other than by saying wow! The veggies are nice as well. I still am giving this one 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. This is a store brand by the Korean store emart (we’ve got Walmart, they’ve got emart). UPC bar code 8801073110564 – you can get it here.

#934: Nongshim Jinjja Jinjja Flamin’ Hot & Nutty Noodle Soup

I got a couple of these family packs sent as samples from Nongshim America the other day…

I’ve had tons of the version that they sell in Korea, but now they’re making it in the United States – specifically in Rancho Cucamonga, California! Today I’ll give this stuff a try and see if it’s as good as what I’ve tried from Korea.

The back of the package (click to enlarge).

The noodle block.

The powder seasoning packet.

Spicy powder!

Nutty seasoning!

Tastes like peanuts and has black sesame seeds in there.

The veggie packet.

Here are all the seasonings hanging out together.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added some sweet onion. The noodles are great – plentiful and of a nice gauge. The slurp up just the right amount of broth and arrive at a very good consistency and chew. The broth is great – the peanut and spicy elements all combine to make a really fiery as well as hearty combination that is quite enjoyable. The veggies are plentiful and there’s a nice variety of them. This stuff is excellent, just like its Korean counterpart. Nice to see that everyone will get to try this stuff in the USA! 5.0 out of 5.0 stars – wonderful stuff! UPC bar code 031146019526.

Here’s the Korean TV commercial for Jinjja Jinjja. These guys are known as Cultwo.

Here’s some of their Korea radio show.
