Re-Review: Paldo Bowl Noodle Soup Spicy Artificial Chicken Flavor

Been a while since I reviewed this one! Had it for #346 (check out the original review). I’m hungry – let’s go.

Side panels (click to enlarge).

The noodle block.

One packet of seasoning.

Bright red powder!

Here’s just a little of the veggies from the bottom of the bowl.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added some stir fry veggies, some baked chicken with Tony Chachere’s Creole seasoning, a fried egg with Krazy Mixed Up Salt and some kizami shoga (pickled ginger). The noodles  are nice – light and buttery with a nice width. The broth is interesting; it is spicy but not burn your face off spicy and has a nice chicken flavor with some hints of cumin. I like it – 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 648436100255 – get it here.

#900: Maruchan Instant Lunch Chicken Flavor Ramen Noodles With Vegetables

When I recently redid The Big List, I noticed some things. One of them was that I have never reviewed this one, nor it’s Beef or Shrimp fellow Instant Lunches! Talk about an oversight on my part… I’m hoping that I’ll be able to do a Meet The Manufacturer with Maruchan soon – thanks to everyone who has asked me to do one, it’s just I’ve never been able to successfully get in touch with them. Well, here we go with a close up and personal with Maruchan’s Instant Lunch: Chicken Flavor.

Here’s the back of the cardboard packaging (click to enlarge).

Under the cardboard outer is the familiar foam cup.

Here’s the lid (click to enlarge). Read the lid! It says use a SEPARATE CONTAINER to heat the water and add to the cup – don’t microwave the cup!

The seasoning and vegetables are right there under the lid; no packets.

Finished. Added boiled chicken, green bell pepper, broccoli, yellow onion and Krazy Mixed Up Salt. When I stirred the noodles, veggies and liquid initially, there was a kind of frothy foam. The noodles are thin and have a kind of buttery flavor and light texture. The broth has a pleasant, salty chicken flavor and nice color – not bad. The veggies weren’t bad either – I think I liked the peas the most, the corn the least and the carrot in between. I could totally enjoy something like this for lunch. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 041789001215 – get it here

#850: Nissin Top Ramen Short Cuts Chicken Flavor Ramen Noodle Soup

Here’s another one of the new ones from Nissin! Let’s give it a try.

Back and side panels – click to enlarge.

A big bag of noodles!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – this stuff is really tasty straight out of the bag! This one especially!

Andy got to eat this bowl – got him some different kamaboko the other day.

Finished. Added some kamaboko. The noodles are short and definitely fill the bill when it comes to ‘comfort food;’ lots of noodles and tasty. The broth is trademark tasty chicken flavor. A good one here – 4.0 out of 5.0 stars! UPC bar code 070662075029 .

Re-Review: Meet The Manufacturer: Paldo Chicken Flavor Korean Noodle

Usually when asked ‘what was your first noodle product,’ the answer I get from a company is chicken flavored instant noodles. Well, chicken flavor instant noodles are these and they look like a nice big bag of noodles! Been awhile – last time I had this is was review #88!

The back of the packaging.

Big noodle block

Seasoning packet.

Chicken lickin’!

Veggies!

Nice little combination of veggies.

Finished. Added a scrambled egg, a couple pieces of oven baked chicken and some Krazy Mixed Up Salt on top. The noodles are plentiful and have a much firmer disposition than any other chicken flavor instant I’ve ever known of. The noodles are a wider gauge than any other chicken instant as well. The broth has a very strong chicken flavor. The vegetables aren’t bad and add a nice little extra flavor. Decent! 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 648436100163 – get it here.

Re-Review: Nissin Top Ramen Chicken Flavor Ramen Noodle Soup

From time to time, it’s a good idea to revisit a baseline. Top Ramen Chicken is something I compare all noodles to in one way or another. The noodles themselves are classic – they’re not bad and soak up the flavor well. They’re not mushy although not exactly what one would call chewy. When reviewing chicken instant noodles I always think to this stuff. Of course, when I see an article someone has blogged or written on the Internet about ramen, a good 80% of the time there’s a nice big picture of the product you see above. Youtube’s no stranger to this either; there are about a zillion videos telling you simply how to prepare a packet of instant Top Ramen. It’s not only good but its everywhere. Eaten raw or cooked, people seem to like it. Well, I like it too and so I revisit it with a sore throat and runny nose. Here we go!

Here’s my take on everything on the back: chicken powder sounds awesome! I think anyone who really need to break up the block needs to also have their head examined; don’t you like long slurpy noodles? That’s my son’s favorite part! The sodium thing: if you want less sodium, use less seasoning. Okay that’s fine, but to those of you who toss the packet: don’t buy this stuff. I think you might enjoy something called Ramyonsari by Ottogi, a Korean company. It’s a pack of just a noodle block! Bigger block too and slightly higher quality noodles.

The single packet of chicken wonders. So say you do happen to be one of those people who toss the packet, maybe for other reasons than sodium intake levels. This stuff is actually really good on popcorn. Try it.

The block and seasoning awaiting a dip in two cups of boiling water.

Oh wow, man this looks awesome. So I threw in a nice piece of my wife’s bad-ass turkey (she cooked it with rosemary, apples and onion and stuffed the skin with butter), a single egg cooked with the noodles was added as well. A dash of pepper on the turkey, a dash of Krazy Mixed Up Salt on the egg and a few splashed of Tabasco Buffalo hot sauce. As a whole dish, 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. The turkey boiled with the noodles, making the broth a little more flavorful. The egg was let go until just on the brink of not being runny and upon eating this dish, I let the yolk spill out with the noodles, turkey and broth. This trifecta, along with the hot sauce, proved an amazing convergence. If you can’t find Top Ramen anywhere near where you live, I’m unsure why; but if that’s the case, you can get it here.
