#932: Paldo Namja Ramen

It’s the day after Thanksgiving and I thought this would be nice to have. I’ve reviewed the Korean version in the past – this is the version for sale in the US.

Back of the package (click image to enlarge). From the ingredients, you can see the beef, chicken and garlic components.

The noodle block.

Seasoning powder packet.

Ahhh look at all of the powder – should be hot’n’spicy!

Veggie packet.

A nice little melange.

Finished (click image to enlarge).  Added sweet onion, some processed cheese, fresh Thanksgiving turkey, French’s French Fried Onions, a hard boiled egg and Krazy Mixed Up Salt. The noodles are great – nice and plump and plentiful. The broth has a great flavor – a strong spiciness too. Excellent red broth! The veggies are very nice too – good amount of garlic in there! Great stuff! 5.0 out of 5.0 stars! UPC bar code 648436100729 – get it here.

Here’s the commercial for Namja Ramyun

Hey sweet – I live just a couple minutes south of Lynwood!

We want to take this flight someday…

#926: Ibumie Penang VegeMee Vegetarian Instant Noodle

Here’s the other new one I saw at 99 Ranch the other day. Sounds interesting… Vegetarian flavor instant noodles often have an odd flavor – we’ll see what this one’s like.

The back of the package (click image to enlarge). I like step two – it says to stir ‘gently.’

The noodle block.

The seasoning powder.

Okay this is odd – I tasted the powder and it tastes like bacon to me!

Vegetable oil and sweet soy sauce.

The soy sauce was extremely thick in this one.

The veggie packet.

Not exactly sure what kind of veggies they are at this point – and the package just says they’re dehydrated vegetables.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added onions, two fried eggs with Cavendar’s Greek seasoning and some Dua Belibis chili sauce. The noodles are a little crumbly and stiff. The broth didn’t end up tasting like bacon so much; kind of a weird vegetable melange. Those dehydrated veggies? They appear to me to be spinach; kind of okay. Not the best that I’ve had from Ibumie. 2.75 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 850248004069 .

An Ibumie TV commercial for HarMee.

Video about Malaysian street food – looks really good!

Re-Review: FMF Chow Tomato Flavour Instant Noodle

Thanks again to Joseph H. of Sacramento, California for sending these! Reviewed these as #895. Sounded good today so here we go!

Finished (click to enlarge). I added green beans, turkey ham, a couple scrambled egg with Tabasco Jalapeno sauce and a slice of cheese. Awesome stuff! Great tomato flavor. Still 4.25 out of 5.0 stars! UPC bar code 9416470239603 .

Looked up Fiji and 1977 (figuring I’d find some music) but found this full length cartoon film made in part by the Hello Kitty people…

Re-Review: Paldo Lobster Taste King Noodle

Last night, Obama got re-elected as the President, and here in Washington state, same-sex marriage was approved – as was the recreational use of marijuana. Quite an evening! Anyways, was fun watching the political process wind up and come to a close for this cycle. Now, on to the urgent task of noodle reviewing!  The last time I reviewed this one was back in February of ’11 and was #287 (link). I forgot how awesome the picture on this one – I love how it says ‘serving suggestion.’ It makes me think that this is one enormous king of the lobsters that wants you to serve it these self-flavored noodles! Roarrr!!! On a side note, if you look at the lower right hand side of the cup, you can see it says “Chitosan Oligosaccaride 2 mg.” What the heck is that?!?! What I got out of this Wikipedia article is that this is something that comes from the exoskeletons of crustaceans. It got me thinking – Chitosan… ChitoSlim? I remember commercials for ChitoSlim, a weight lossupplement. I found it and lo and behold it contains 1000 mg of Chitosan. I figure it’s basically like a super-fiber. Anyways, let’s continue.

The side panels (click to enlarge). Enjoy them – this took awhile!

The noodle block.

The seasoning packet.

Whoa – that’s a lot of red powder! Spicy red powder!

Here’s just a few bits from the mix at the bottom of the cup. Kamaboko and seaweed.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added sweet onions, two scrambled eggs with Tabasco Jalapeno sauce and topped with processed cheese and a little Krazy Mixed Up Salt, Texas Pete hot sauce and Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. The noodles are nice – not mushy, but they kind of come together when chewed. Kind of hard to explain; not a negative either. The broth is nice – tasty and a little spicy. The little bit of veggies and kamaboko were good too. I liked it! 3.75 out of 6.0 stars. UPC bar code 648436100279 – get it here.

Re-Review: Indomie Curly Noodles With Grilled Chicken Flavour (Mie Keriting Rasa Ayam Panggang)

I’m going to go out on a limb here. I would say that if I were held down and demanded to answer the question “what is your favorite instant noodle of all time” that I would probably say it was this one. I would also say the Special Fried Curly Noodle that tops the Top Ten Instant Noodles Of All Time list; they’re both equally amazing and awesome. What I can’t believe is that I haven’t had it since review #51! That’s ANCIENT! I used to eat this one all the time.

Here’s the sticker the distributor puts on (click to enlarge).

Here’s the back of the package (click to enlarge).

Here’s the noodle block – notice the special curliness.

Dehydrated veggies on the left, seasoning powder on the right.

Neat looking veggies.

The seasoning powder.

Hey look – more seasoning powder and chili powder – huh?

So if you look at the directions on the pack, you’ll notice below there’s a mention of soup. With this stuff, you make the noodles like regular Mi Goreng but there’s also a soup you add at the end.

Seasoned oil.

Tasty tasty!

Here’s a littler family portrait of all the seasonings together.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added sweet onion, stir fry veggies, turkey breast, fried egg and Dua Belibis chili sauce. The noodles are great – flat and broader than your standard Indomie noodles. Yes – they’re curly as well! The flavor is sweet and spicy with a little chick flavor. The broth adds another facet as the noodles aren’t dry but have a nice small amount of broth. Excellent – pure wonderful! 5.0 out of 5.0 stars.UPC bar code 089686040159 – find it here.
