I reviewed the original version (non-microwavable) quite a while back and really liked it – it even made the Top Ten Instant Noodle Bowls list. Today I’m going to check out the new version.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added odeng (fish cake), sweet onions, green onions and Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. The noodles are good – they have that almost ‘buttery’ flavor to them like all of Nongshim’s new microwavable Bowl Noodle Soups. The broth has a spicy and deep seafood taste – very nice! The veggies and bits are pretty good too. Everything comes together nicely in this bowl – I like it. 4.25 out of 5.0 stars – definitely one of my favorites! UPC bar code 031146262984 – get it here.
For a long time, one of my reviews was featured on the front page of Nongshim USA’s website for their Shin Ramyun Black. Well, guess who repolaced me? Yup – PSY! I don’t think I can really compete with his fame! I still challenge him to a Shin Ramyun eating contest! En garde – Gangnam Style!
For those who didn’t know, ‘Gangnam Style’ is one track from an album. Here’s something from a different album – just so you know that PSY does different things and not just one song.
It’s the day after Thanksgiving and I thought this would be nice to have. I’ve reviewed the Korean version in the past – this is the version for sale in the US.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added sweet onion, some processed cheese, fresh Thanksgiving turkey, French’s French Fried Onions, a hard boiled egg and Krazy Mixed Up Salt. The noodles are great – nice and plump and plentiful. The broth has a great flavor – a strong spiciness too. Excellent red broth! The veggies are very nice too – good amount of garlic in there! Realized I haven’t reviewed the new version of the Shin Bowl. A lot of people have asked if I noted any difference from the old version (non-microwaveable) and the new one. Well, I guess we shall see!

The hot stuff! This is a Korean red broth – something to enjoy thoroughly for its spiciness!
Here are a couple bits that were in the bottom of the bowl under the noodle block. Looks like mushroom and some other things going on. There was a lot more.
Finished. Added some fresh onions, some kimchi and a couple pieces of processed cheese. The noodles are great – light and buttery. The broth is good too – nice and flavorful and spicy. The veggies aren’t bad – decent amount of them too. As far as a difference, I would say it’s definitely not as spicy as it used to be, but it definitely has a very good taste I enjoyed thoroughly. From looking at the old version review, I’m going to say I like this one a lot better. 4.25 out of 5.0 stars!UPC bar code 031146262441 – get it here!

Okay so by now, most folks have heard about Psy and Gangnam Style. He’s definitely not representative of all Korean pop music – his tune’s definitely something different. A lot of what you hear from Korea are boy bands/girl bands – and oft times they have a ton of members – I think 2ne1 has like 7 men and women. Here’s something else you see an awful lot – companies having KPop bands promote their products. This is one of the members of T-ara with a recipe for Shin Ramyun. Now what’s interesting about this one is that there was a bit of a controversy in Japan about this; if you watch it, you will notice at a certain point she puts the noodles on the updide down lid and eats them. This is a very common practice in Korea to cool down the noodles. Well, the Japanese found this a little off-putting. People are funny.
It’s funny how much my wife and I enjoy saying ‘HooRooRook!’ I wonder what it means though… Well, after some research, it came to my attention that it is the sound of slurping noodles.

I really like the little thin long shreds of seaweed – those make me happy.

It says to add this after cooking and mix it in. So I did.
Finished. I added some Fresno peppers, green bell pepper, onion, snap peas and a coupAlso, I found that there were not only the long, thin noodles but very short slightly wider ones – interesting to see dual gauge noodles in a single block. le florets of broccoli. I really liked the broth – it was light and mellow – not to say I all of a sudden don’t like spicy and deep broth, it’s just nice for a change of pace. In the commercial and from other sources, I see that they’re saying it has some spiciness to it but it is very light. The noodles are good too – they remind me slightly of the Nongshim Hearty Beef rice noodles but a much thinner gauge. Thing is though that these aren’t rice noodles at all. What’s also nice is that the whole pack has a gram of fat, 8g protein and slightly lower sodium than others. Bottom line here is that it’s a nice, light and friendly soup that would make most people who only think instant noodles are unhealthy, cheap nasty things change their tune. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. So here’s something a little different! Hearthy and consommé usually aren’t words I see one packages of instant noodles!
Look at that! Clockwise from top – soup base, sea tangle and vegetables. Sea tangle! It add that wonderful ‘of the sea’ taste!
So inside the package is a tray with the noodles. There are the packet contents and sea tangle on top. Note the nice looking veggies!
Yeah – definitely something I’ve not seen before. Oh wait; isn’t this like macaroni but rice and thinner?
Here’s the finished product. So the noodles are very chewy. I don’t like them much at all. Broth is nice and has some depth to it. Sea tangle is great as are the veggies. Altogether, I can’t get behind it because the noodles just don’t do it for me. 2.75 out of 5.0 stars. Unique and different yes, but not my kinda thing. Surprised to be able to find at least the beef version here.
