#980: Meet The Manufacturer – Sun Noodle Cold Ramen Soy Sauce Vinaigrette Sauce With Honey Apple Added

Here’s another cold variety to check out!

The ingredients and instructions (click image to enlarge).

Noodle packet.

The seasoning liquid.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added hard boiled egg, ham and Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. The noodles are nice – chewy and very hospitable to their chilliness! The liquid ‘dressing’ is salty and flavorful – light and has a nice balance of saltiness, vinegar and fruit. Delicious! 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 085315400066.

#635: Ottogi Buckwheat Bibim Ramyon

Otay! It’s time for some cold noodles – not usually my favorite but we’ll just have to give them a try.

Rinse and stir – sounds simple enough.

Maybe it’s the 70’s Japanese hard rock I’m listening to, but this block of buckwheat noodles looks really cool.

The liquid sauce packet.

Finished. Well, I didn’t like it. The noodles were okay but a little too elastic for my texture tastes. The flavoring was spicy and a little cider-like. The whole cold thing was too much for me. Was fun to make though! 1.1 out of 5.0 stars. UPC barcode 645175550013 .

#195: Myojo Chukazanmai Noodles served cool with sesame-flavored rice-vinegar sauce Sesame Flavor

Okay here’s some that I’ve been sitting on for a while. So these are to be served cool – so we’ll see if they’re any good.

A big packet of liquid and a smaller packet of liquid…

So the bulk here is the big packet – a sweet sesame dressing. The little one? Hot mustard!

It said on the back to serve with sliced cucumber, tomato and ham. Well, I had some ham so I tossed some in. So this stuff is pretty good! Kind of sweet and vinegary and with a touch of mustard taste. The noodles are cool and wet (drained and rinsed with cold water) and a little slimy but not gross. I think this is good stuff but not something I’d have again. Maybe but probably not. I’m giving this one a 3.0 out of 5.0 stars – it is unique and interesting and enjoyable, but not my kind of ‘regular’ noodle choice. Get it here.

#175: Samyang Spicy Radish Flavor Cold Ramen with Ponytail Radish Noodle Soup

So here’s the second that Kit selected for me to try today. I’ve been honestly avoiding this one for quite a while but I left her to decide my noodle sampling fate again today so here we go!

One single solitary packet: liquid soup base.

Thick, black and goopy. This stuff is unrelenting in its tarry, ominous nature.

So this is a cold noodle deal. I thought it was interesting how the packaging said noodle soup although the water the noodles are prepared in is all drained off. I couldn’t imagine these noodles in the 600cc’s of broth with the seasoning being at all palatable. Okay so it’s very spicy.  The noodles were stirred into the goopy stuff for a long time so they’d be evenly mixed. It’s interesting stuff. I think some people would like it a little more than I but I’m the ramenrater here so to hell with them. I thought it odd that there was a piece of hard boiled egg shown on the package. I would think that this would cause some serious internal gas in combination with these noodles and the seasoning. I’m giving these a 3.0 out of 5.0 – they have a certain uniqueness I find endearing and the flavor is spicy, ands the noodles are of good stock and have a skosh of gumption. Get it here.

#118: Paldo Bibim Men Oriental Style Noodle

So sometimes I’m looking for some new ramen and see it but it only seems to come in a 5 pack. Nowhere else in the noodle aisle do they have it… That’s really annoying! This was one such variety but I finally found it at a new asian market I found today out of nowhere across from 99 Ranch Market in Edmonds. Anyways, here’s Paldo brand Bibim Men Oriental Style Noodle

So only one packet. The directions are to cook the noodles and then drain them, wash them under cold water and then put the goopy contents of this packet with them and stir.

See the goopy contents? On the package it mentions now with 8% more apple juice and also has a pic of a hot pepper.

Finished stuff. Well, I’m certainly glad I didn’t get 5 of them. It’s interesting a very doifferent; it’s cold noodles with a slightly apple tasting and spicy flavor. Still, not really my thing. I might like them better hot but still not sure. The end result is 2.5 out of 5.0 stars. It’s really neat and cool to see something so different than what I usually get, but really not that great or terrible.
