#975: Ottogi Spaghetti Ramen

Here one that came from Korea by way of Kristen W. of Arizona! Thank you so much! I’ve wanted to review this one for a long time! Let’s check this unique variety out.

Side panels (click image to enlarge).

The noodle block.

The powdered flavor packet.

The powder had a sweet flavor to it.

The veggie packet.

Corn and meatybits!

Here’s the sauce packet – lots of red stuff in here!

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added sweet onions, light ham and Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. The noodles are pretty standard ramyun noodles. The seasoning powder that stirs in has a light sweet’n’salty taste. The spaghetti sauce? Sweet and just a little spicy. The veggies are decent. This is a lot of fun and tastes great! 4.5 out of 5.0 stars – unique and enjoyable!UPC bar code 8801045571416.

Old Ottogi TV commercial.

Looks like an older Ottogi TV commercial!

#914: Nissin Ramen Shop Sapporo Miso Flavor

Here’s something I picked up at the Bellevue Uwajimaya. So this is Sapporo miso flavor. What’s that? Here’s what Wikipedia says:

Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido, is especially famous for its ramen. Most people in Japan associate Sapporo with its rich miso ramen, which was invented there and which is ideal for Hokkaido’s harsh, snowy winters. Sapporo miso ramen is typically topped with sweetcorn, butter, bean sprouts, finely chopped pork, and garlic, and sometimes local seafood such as scallop, squid, and crab. Hakodate,[8] another city of Hokkaidō, is famous for its salt flavored ramen, while Asahikawa,[9] in the north of the island, offers soy sauce flavored ones.

Here’s the back of the package (click to enlarge).

The noodle block. The noodles seems kind of hollow perhaps. A little wider than Nissin Demae Ramen.

The seasoning powder.

The powder has a nice taste to it; kind of hard to describe… Salty and soy?

This little packet…

Looks like chili powder.

Finished (click to enlarge). I tried to make it as close to traditional Sapporo miso ramen as I could. Added sweet corn, kizami shoga (pickled ginger), ham, butter, sweet onions, stir-fry vegetables ands Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. The noodles are great – thicker and very nice chewiness. The broth is nice as well – a deep, rich miso taste. This is some good stuff! 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 4902105113783

#479: Nong Shim Potato Noodle Soup

I’ve been waiting for the right time to review this and today is it. Potato noodles eh? I’ve had sweet potato noodles in the Baijia brand offerings and been quite unhappy with them. Hopefully Nong Shim can make the potato happy again…

Two decently sized packets – veggies and powder.

From the scent, I think this is going to be a spicy one!

Finished product. So I was correct – it is quite spicy. The soup was hot and spicy and the noodles… Drumroll please… Were awesome! They were quite chewy as advertised and enjoyable. The veggies were an array of cabbage, carrots and corn. Awesome stuff. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars!

This is a commercial for pork potato noodles from Nong Shim.

This is extremely funny!

#440: Maruchan Instant Lunch Hot & Spicy Beef Flavor Ramen Noodles With Vegetables

So here’s some Instant Lunch. Haven’t done one of these in a while and I’m sure that there’s a ton of them I need to do still. So hot & spicy beef – let’s give ‘er a try.

I must admit I REALLY like the labelling going on here. The font and the explosions that say hot and spicy are just plain awesome – very old school!

No packets – the stuff is all infused into the noodles and around them. Look at the corn wow!

Here we are. Looks good to me – and tastes pretty good too. Not a ton of spicyness but definitely some kicking. I liked it except that the large corn kernels didn’t re-hydrate very well. 2.75 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

#296: Nissin Cup Noodles Crab Flavor ( Hong Kong )

So here’s the second Hong Kong Nissin Cup Noodles I’ve found. I’m really hoping to find some more flavors cuz thdy’re really awesome! Well, here we go…

Yeah – not like the stuff at the regular grocery store huh?

Uber lots of stuff in here!

All done. I can’t get over how much corn they put in these things… So this one is pretty good. The noodles are your standard Nissin Cup Noodles style and consistency. The broth is rather salty this time, but has a nice flavor and yes, it is crablike! The veggies are very ample and I’m happy and quite pleased with the experience. It does seem a little funky though as the bit of pollack didn’t reconstitute so well. I’m throwing this one a 3.25 out of 5.0 stars.
