Oh man I thought this was a new one! I reviewed this at #93! Here’s something from the Philippines! Been awhile since a review from there. Pancit Canton reminds me a lot of Indonesia’s Mi Goreng; the noodles are drained and then stirred with the dry and wet ingredients and served. Let’s try this one out!

Finished. Added some veggies, a couple scrambled eggs with Cavender’s Greek Seasoning, some roast beef and some Dua Belibis chili sauce. This stuff is excellent! The noodles are chewy and the flavoring coasts nice and has a sweet and salty taste. Not really spicy as Mi Goreng usually is. If you want to like Mi Goreng but can’t handle the heat, this would be an excellent alternative! 4.5 out of 5.0 stars – still amazingly good since review #93! UPC bar code 4800016555992 .
Pancit Canton! Ahhh this stuff is so good! It’s a lot like Indomie’s Mi Goreng but a little sweeter. Anyways, Let’s give their extra hot chili flavor a try!

On the left we have a double packet of seasoned oil and a liquid sauce of some type.
Here are the noodles before the boil. This is a very small block – the package is only 2.12 ounces – on the small side.
The oil, powder and liquid come together like an artist’s palette of earthy tones.
Finished. Runny yolk fried eggs on top with a little Tony Chachere’s Creole seasoning, black pepper and fried shallot garnish. So there was some heat here – not too strong as it was offset by a little sweetness. The noodles were good – slightly chewy and a little sticky. A good quick snack unless you add the eggs to bring it up to meal mode. Very good! 4.0 out of 5.0 stars! They have the hot chili and lime one here.
Even better, I found it on this page of Philippine condiments! Pretty cool!

I added a little Kizami Shoga (pickled ginger) and a little fried shallot for garnish. Well I must say this is stupendous and wonderful stuff and I could eat it every day. Very much like Indomie’s Mi Goreng line. I like the noodles and the flavor and everything. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars – delicious!
So I have found that I really like this pancit canton – the Payless Xtra Big chilimansi and regular are awesome – so let’s see if the lime one is rockin’!

Added two hard boiled eggs, a little pickled ginger and a pinch of fried shallots. During my first bite I realized the shells hadn’t all been removed from the eggs – the hard way! So I opted to just remove the eggs. So this was some really enjoyable and tasty stuff. I would be happy to eat this every day! Much like Mi Goreng Satay my Indomie. I loved it. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars.
This is a game played with a kalamansi – the lime on the ground. However I do not know what you call the mallet…
The Banana Splits Show – I remember this when I was a kid…
So I’ve been waiting for a good time to try this stuff and today seemed the right time. My 5 year old stuck his headf in the ramen box and picked it out for me. I have so many and its so hard to pick that I often ask family to pick the one I’m going to have – and usually after they pick once or twice I agree to the one the pick the third time.
So the last one I had by Payless was their ‘original’ flavor pancit canton. Pancit means noodles in the Philippines – they were introduced by the Chinese way way back. I am pretty sure that’s why they’re pancit canton – Canton is a province of China – Cantonese etc… I have a packet which I have been challenged to try but yet to called Pancit Shanghai. There are others like pancit palabok and bihon, but so far I really really like the pancit canton.
Then there’s the chilimansi aspect. Basically it means hot pepper and lime flavor. Now, on with the review!
Three packets of power! The first is a seasoned oil, then a dark soy sauce I think, then a packet with dry powder within.
Ah that looks quite nice! This stuff is prepared identically to a couple of my favorites – Indomie’s Mi Goreng varieties and Special versions. Cook the noodles, drain and stir in a bowl that you’ve put all the flavorings in. If you make this with some broth, it will taste really wrong – strange how water would do that, but trust me – you don’t want to skip the drainage step.
I added two fried eggs, some Kizami Shoga [pickled ginger], fried shallots and a little sriracha sauce. The noodles were awesome and very tasty! A bit of chili flavor, a bit citrus. Kind of sweet and salty too. Everything played off of eachother and it was like listening to some groovy funky music but it was going from the bowl into my facehole, getting chewed and into the great oblivious beyond that is my digestive system. Good good stuff – stuff of poetry and philosophy. 4.5 out of 5/.0 stars. Get some and eat it!
Tagalog’s an interesting language – how it goes from something that sounds so foreign and then bam – english! Pretty cool.
