#455: Baijia Single Noble Pickled Radish And Duck Flavor Instant Sweet Potato Noodle ( Cup )

Baijia. Probably the single brand with the lowest consecutive ratings I’ve given. But lo and behold, I continue reviewing them – I believe that at some point there will be something awesome from them! Perhaps this pickled radish and duck flavored sweet potato noodle cup will be the holy grail? We shall see…

The first thing I noticed is that the Baijia logo is a sticker. Notice at the lower left – that little white square? Another sticker. These are covering up something, but I am not sure – probably domestic markings not meant to be seen in export. Definitely noteworthy though.

So I peel off the stickers – re-branding with a new logo. Okay let’s move on.

Hey sweet – a new fork! There’s a new fork review for it here in my ongoing review of included forks. From left to right we’ve got some odd looking vegetables, a powdered dry seasoning packet and then some seasoned oil/paste stuff.

So even though it’s a cup, they put the directions for a packaged noodle on the side. Okay whatever. Just put this to let ya know I did read these directions. I’ve had a couple of comments on how I just don’t get it with this Baijia stuff. I think I get it – not really rocket science here.

So this is what sweet potato noodles look like – pretty weird huh? The powdered seasoning was almost like a kind of cheese. Anyways, I added boiling water to the line and covered it for 6 minutes.

Whoa. Gaze upon it. I don’t know what the beans are but they’re kind of weird. The noodles are very mushy and clumpy and greasy. It is a tangled mushy noodle mess. As far as the taste goes, it’s not bad – kind of salty and has some kind of flavor I can’t pinpoint. The veggie bits remind me of the Unif Sauerkraut flavor bowl I had a while back. As far as a rating… I can’t say that I like it, however I find it kind of fascinating that a product like this would be constructed and then sold. Somebody out there really likes it. Unfortunately, my American palate is a little challenged and I can’t give it my blessing. 0.25 out of 5.0 stars – really inedible and not worthy of being called a food.

Eat the noodles…

And dig those bubbles!

#202: Nong Shim Bowl Noodle Soup Cabbage Kimchi Flavor

So here’s the third of these Bowl Noodles I’ve tried, Cabbage Kimchi. Some not so keen on Kimchi might not know that its not only made of cabbage but other vegetables too, such as radish. Anyways, Let’s get started.

As with the other two, we have only one packet of seasoning.

I finally remembered this time to get the powder and the veggies in the picture. The veggies are not in a packet but in the bottom of the bowl.

Here’s what we have before…

I added two eggs. I’ll add a couple fried eggs to all of these because I like it that way. I’ve got two more bowls of this stuff ready to review. Anyways… The broth definitely reminds me of cabbage Kimchi. It’s a little spicy, and almost slightly citrussy. The noodles are the same as the last two bowl noodles – limp but logical. The veggies were the surprise for me here. I expected a lot more cabbage going on but not much to speak of.  The eggs complimented quite nicely. I’m going to give this one 3.25 out of 5.0 stars – it was pretty good stuff. Get it here.

#192: Paldo Soy Flavor Noodle Jang Ramyun

So this looks like a regular boring pack of noodles. Soy flavor – nothing special here right?

Vegetables and seasoning powder…

Veggies and powder. Welsh onion flake tops the list of veggie ingredients…

So let me say that this is some really good stuff. I added a couple of eggs directly to it while the noodles were boiling. So the broth is nice and hearty and the noodles are very thick and the veggies have a slight crunch to them. All in all, it was a very good bowl of noodles to have for breakfast and I am quite pleased. I’m giving it a 4.1 out of 5.0 stars – a great one here.

#175: Samyang Spicy Radish Flavor Cold Ramen with Ponytail Radish Noodle Soup

So here’s the second that Kit selected for me to try today. I’ve been honestly avoiding this one for quite a while but I left her to decide my noodle sampling fate again today so here we go!

One single solitary packet: liquid soup base.

Thick, black and goopy. This stuff is unrelenting in its tarry, ominous nature.

So this is a cold noodle deal. I thought it was interesting how the packaging said noodle soup although the water the noodles are prepared in is all drained off. I couldn’t imagine these noodles in the 600cc’s of broth with the seasoning being at all palatable. Okay so it’s very spicy.  The noodles were stirred into the goopy stuff for a long time so they’d be evenly mixed. It’s interesting stuff. I think some people would like it a little more than I but I’m the ramenrater here so to hell with them. I thought it odd that there was a piece of hard boiled egg shown on the package. I would think that this would cause some serious internal gas in combination with these noodles and the seasoning. I’m giving these a 3.0 out of 5.0 – they have a certain uniqueness I find endearing and the flavor is spicy, ands the noodles are of good stock and have a skosh of gumption. Get it here.

#129: Nong Shim Mupama Tang Myun Noodle Soup

Neat looking stuff with a funny name… Looked it up online and it mentioned beef and radishes… Hmmm…

From big to small – veggies, soup base, chili powder.

I liked the chili it was tasty!

So not too bad. Noodles are firm and ballsy and the broth was a little spicy. The vegetables were plentiful and enjoyable. Not saying this is anything extraodinary though; seems kind of like others I’ve had… 2.8 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.
