#875: Sunlee Artificial Chicken Flavour Rice Vermicelli

Here’s one from Thailand – Sunlee. Rice noodles eh… Alright, let’s give it a try.

A close up of the lid (click to enlarge).

A fork!

The rice noodle block.

Dry seasonings…

Lots of chicken flavor base.

Red pepper flakes.

Seasoned oil.

Looks like some seasoned oil.

Finished. Added some baked chicken and some Huy Fong Sriracha chili sauce. The noodles are extremely thin. This is one that using scissors to cut them is helpful. They’re not bad but not great. The broth has a nice chicken flavor. This definitely wasn’t Sunlee’s best. 2.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 76193401644 .

Disco from Thailand!

#840: Chewy Stir Rice Vermicelli Singaporean Laksa Flavour

Here’s one that my sister brought me back from a trip to Canada earlier this year. So to recap, bought in Canada, Singaporean flavored, made in China – capiche?

Back of packaging.

An included fork!

The rice noodle whorl.

Liquid paste seasoning.

Looks interesting…

Veggies.

Very small bits of vegetables.

Finished. Added broccoli, red bell pepper, roast beef with some Dua Belibis chili sauce, hard boiled egg with Krazy Mixed Up Salt and some Kizami Shoga (pickled ginger). This rice noodles – kind of dry. The flavor is really nice though – a light and sweet coconut flavor permeates and ensconces. The little bits of veggies are a plus and add a nice herb layer tot the flavor. I liked this one – 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 652283002839 .

#173: Unif Tung-I Instant Bean Vermicelli Shrimp Flavor (Bean Thread)

Bean thread huh? Hmm – not always my favorite. It tends to be gloppy, mucky stuff that kind of congeals together.

Two packets – powder and oil – smelled like a light sesame oil.

Very light colored seasonings awaiting the boiling nature of bean thread in 3 minutes of pain.

Well, not too much positive to report on this one! Tjhe bean thread was its standard gloppy and funky way. I don’t like it. No vegetables here unless a couple green pieces of something floating around count. The flavor was kind of neutral to me; shrimp? Not extremely. So here’s the score: 1.5 out of 5.0 – just not something I liked. Get it here.

#157: Nissin Cup Noodles Sotanghon Chicken Flavored Instant Noodles

So here’s some unique cnoodles in a cup from the Philippines! Sotanghon chicken – what’s sotanghon? According to Wikipedia…

In Filipino cuisine, the noodles are called sotanghon because of the popular dish of the same name made from them using chicken and wood ears. These noodles are often confused with rice vermicelli, which are called bihon in the Philippines.

So whaddaya know…

So here are the noodles sitting in the cup awaiting liquids and seasoning. They’re already sitting with some green onion or chives it appears.

Powder seasoning and flavored oil.

Here’s the finished product. The noodles are clear and not to my liking. Kinda mucky I think. The broth is extremely salty. I don’t especially like it… I’m going to give it 2.0 out of 5.0 stars.
