Got this one at a grocery store in Livermore, California called Nob Hill. Pretty rare these days that I find something I haven’t tried in a grocery store!

Finished. I added some veggies, a couple fried eggs, some Krazy Mixed Up Salt and some Dua Belibis chili sauce. The noodles are a little on the thin side and slightly crumbly, but not bad. The broth is very nice – in the comfort food realm I would say – a nice tasty and a little oily melange. This is pretty good stuff! 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 074601025649 .
San Francisco Veggie Bean huh?
This is a video I made of our drive home from California to the Seattle area. I took a ton of short videos with my digitaol camera and when the battery died I used my cell phone. I then put them in order, added some music and titles in Live Movie Maker, sent to YouTube and used their stabilization filter. Yay!
So we were in the Asian grocery today and looking around on the fresh noodle aisle. I’ve done all the varieties they had of the Myojo Udon in the past, but there’s quite a few here I haven’t done before too, so here we go!
Underneath, the noodles. Above, the seasoning packet. So this stuff is a different deal – you put a little oil into a pan, fry up the noodles for about three minutes and then throw in the seasoning and cook for maybe another minute and voila!
The package recommended adding veggies and meats, but I wanted to see how it fared on its own (plus I didn’t have the time to do either veggies nor meats). So this stuff is awesome – much like Sapporo Ichiban’s Chi Mein except it doesn’t have the little powder seaweed (green laver) packet. I liked this stuff a lot! 4.25 out of 5.0 stars! It was truly SOUPER!

Alright -first off, it’s my lady Kit’s birthday today! Happy Birthday I love you!!! She was just in California and brought me back some noodles. I thought there were only two varieties of this stuff – apparently I was wrong! So here we go!

So I have been annoyed at how a lot of my pictures have come out orangey. I have a full spectrum bulb I use with a swing arm lamp but it seems that that is the issue. So I tried just using the light from above in our main room, but check this bizarreness…

Added two fried eggs. Some good stuff! Like a massive bowl of noodle stuffs. I didn’t detect a really shrimpy flavor. I did like the noodles and the broth and the large amount of good veggies. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars.
It’s big, it’s burly, it’s insanity. I really think the USA is the only country that this is marketed to. Super size me ramen! 2960mg of sodium and 560 calories. But hey, that 14g of protein will help on the jog you take after eating this!
So a couple of packets – veggies and soup base. I was pleased to see the amount of veggies here.
Oodles of veggies! I tried a chunk of the uncooked noodle cake and a smidge of the beef flavoring – wow that could be eaten just like that – very tasty stuff! But this isn’t dry ramen rater so I added the water and microwaved for the four and a half minutes.
One thing they add to these bowls are the ‘flavor enhancer’ otherwise known as the ‘finishing touch.’ I tried it straight and it was like a bit of beef fat and teriyaki and sesami oil. At least that’s what it tasted like. The ingredients were all encompassing and not broken down as to packet.
Here she is in all of her glory. I christen this the USS Ubernoodle. I’m not going to lie – this is pretty good. The noodles are what you’d expect; a little mushy. But the veggies are nice and a little sweet, there are bit of dehydrated beef [could be soya protein or textured vegetable protein – not sure] and the broth is nice and tasty – I think the finishing touch made it better. So the only issue is whether I can eat the whole thing or not. I tend to doubt it. I’m going to give it 3.0 out of 5.0 stars. I feel that the individual flavors and textures are good but together they kind of run together and don’t make me cheer. I think I would’ve enjoyed it more if it were spicy as well.
So I currently have a cold/giraffe flu and thought perhaps a liquid suspension of sodium and noodles would help. Being the microwave gourmet I am these days, I went for the big sucker pictured here. 1420mg of sodium and some Flonase and I’m starting to perk up! Tis was a marginal cup noodle. The noodles themselves are rather weak by comparison to Cup Noodle for example. Of course, one plus is the multiple packets. I’m a packet junkie as all Ramenrater readers know. You get a little dehydrated veggie packet, one with soup base and then one that you add at the end with the mysterious beckoning ‘Finishing Touch.’ The veggies rehydrate quite well and provide a decent amount, but just like all other things, there’s never enough. As I said above, the noodles lacked gumption. As for the ‘Finishing Touch,’ its an oil – probably sesame. All in all, it wasn’t anything to call home about, but nothing to call the police about either. The whole deal surrounding this product is just that its enormous. Get it here.
