#922: Sunlee Shitake Mushroom Instant Vermicelli

Here’s one we got during our summer vacation. Found it at the Uwajimaya in Beaverton, Oregon. Mushrooms… Well, Let’s give it a go!

Here’s a close-up of he text on the lid (click to enlarge)

Hey – it’s a fork!

The noodle whorl.

This is kind of interesting; I’ve seen many many dual packets like this, but never one that is horizontally labeled.

The seasoning powder with the chili powder on top.

Seasoned oil.

Looks like a clear oil. Has some bits in there though.

Bits of shitake.

Little bits!

Finished (click to enlarge). The noodles are pretty good; they’re bean vermicelli. The broth is spicy with a strong chili powder taste and very mushroomy. The bits of mushroom are spongy. This was not my cup of tea. 1.25 out of 5.0 stars. If you love mushrooms in all forms, this might be for you, but as for myself, this is really funky. UPC bar code 761934016481 – get it here.

#875: Sunlee Artificial Chicken Flavour Rice Vermicelli

Here’s one from Thailand – Sunlee. Rice noodles eh… Alright, let’s give it a try.

A close up of the lid (click to enlarge).

A fork!

The rice noodle block.

Dry seasonings…

Lots of chicken flavor base.

Red pepper flakes.

Seasoned oil.

Looks like some seasoned oil.

Finished. Added some baked chicken and some Huy Fong Sriracha chili sauce. The noodles are extremely thin. This is one that using scissors to cut them is helpful. They’re not bad but not great. The broth has a nice chicken flavor. This definitely wasn’t Sunlee’s best. 2.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 76193401644 .

Disco from Thailand!

#411: Sunlee Crab Flavour Instant Vermicelli

So here’s an interesting looking one. The noodles are made of mung bean! Bean thread! Let’s check out these noodles from Thailand!

Some oil, some powder seasoning and some chili powder. I opted to tread lightly with the chili powder – don’t feel like heartburn right now.

Strange looking noodles, huh? Just you wait…

Weird looking huh? They’re slippery and oft times hard to fork. I usually don’t like bean thread but I like these. The broth is nice and the thread is reasonaably enjoyable. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars.

Jeez what did we do? Why don’t we get weenie pizza?

#331: Sunlee Crab Flavour Instant Noodle (Bowl)

So here’s something I’ve not tried before – Sunlee brand from Thailand! Crab is usually a pretty good instant noodle flavor… Let’s see how this tastes…

Clockwise from top: a fork (gee, no way!), chili powder and soup base dual packets and seasoned oil.

So I noticed that it said that there was no fat in it which I figured couldn’t possibly be correct when it said how many calies were from fat. So if you ever see something like this and you need to know, there’s 9 calories per gram of fat. So its about 12.2 grams of fat here.

Seasonings atop the noodle block.

I added two fried eggs with a little garlic salt. Well I must say this is super uber tasty stuff! The noodles were very nice, the broth was very tasty and spicy enough too. I was extremely pleased and happy to give this one 4.5 out of 5.0 stars!
