#641: Vina Acecook Hao Hao Fried Noodles Shrimp & Onion Flavour

Been waiting for a good day to rerview these – they sound really good! I thought I’d try them today to celebrate the CNN article coming out!

Here’s the back of the package.

An oddly shaped noodle block; the noodles had a slight pre-seasoning to them.

From left to right: Powdered seasoning, seasoned oil and veggies/herbs.

Here’s everything. This pack asks you to steep and then drain the noodles and mix well with the seasonings in a bowl.

Finished. I added two fried eggs (soft yolk) with a little pepper and Cavender’s Greek seasoning on top. I also added some fried shallot and Kizami Shoga (pickled ginger). Steeping the noodles made them a little more engorged than I would have liked and the seasonings weren’t as strong as I would have expected. Usually I really like the Vina Acecook line, especially their Hao Hao stuff, but this time it wasn’t as good as usual. 3.0 out of 5.0 stars – good, but not great. UPC barcode 8934563805159 .

Here’s a Vina Acecook commercial.

#615: Yamamori Tom Yam Ramen Prawn Flavor

Made a trip to Seattle and hit up Uwajimaya and got a ton of new noodles – lots of Japanese bowls! Anyways, let’s start with this prawn tom yam…

The back. I found if you go to google and type in the digits in the bar code and then use google translate and boom – there’s the info you need.

I think I’ve seen this packaging before

The ramen block – with some seasonings.

Powder on the left, seasoned oil on the right.

Added an egg during the boil as instructed on the package [yay!]. This is some serious stuff –  the noodles are very nice – not plump but very tasty with a slightly crumbly nature on the palate after a chew or two. The flavoring is perfect; a lot of lemony shrimp and spicy heat going on. The egg entices and offers a cooling oasis of respite from the fiery tastes offered. I loved it. 4.5 out of 5.0 stars.

#439: Little Cook Tom Yum Seafood Premium Noodle

So the idea of a seafood noodle soup with fake seafood has been kind of daunting for the past couple monthsHowever, today was the day. I must fear no ramen! So, here we have some seafood tom yum fromThialand.

Nice earthy colors from left to right: dry seasoning powder, seasoned oil paste and finally chili powder.

Then we’ve got a retort pouch!

It’s full of fake seafood – looks like it’s made from tapioca and other things. There appear to be mushrooms in there too according to the ingredients.

Wow now that’s a crazy looking pile of packet contents. Should be interesting…

Added a couple fried eggs. So here we are. The noodles are of a wider gauge – broad and flat and actually quite good. The broth is flavorful – spicy and lemonny. As for the fake seafood, it’s not bad. However the mushrooms are kind of funky – I had one larger piece that was almost the consistency of a carrot. So this was pretty good stuff I’ll admit and I’m kind of pleased I have two of them. Giving this one a 3.0 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

#408: Gomex 3 Mien Gomex 3 Miến Mì Tôm Chua Cay Hot Sour Shrimp Instant Noodles

So here’s the second of the Gomex noodles. I’ve never seen them other than the two I’ve rated – pretty interesting. They’re from Vietnam and sound interesting, so let’s give em’ a try…

Some powder and some seasoned oil – rather murky…

Oh yeah this one looks a little funky. Spicy and sour shrimp sounds good though.

I dropped an egg in with the boiling noodles. So here we are. The noodles took on the broth’s flavor, which was a little on the odd side. It’s almost kind of sweet, but spicy and salty too. I don’t really detect a really shrimp-like flavor here. It’s edible but not great. 2.25 out of 5.0 stars.

Here’s a commercial for these…

…and here’s my 3 minute noodle timer I made. Just cover your Cup o Noodle and hit play. when it’s done – bam! You’ve got a cooked Cup o Noodles!

#396: Vina Acecook Best Cook Hot & Spicy Tom Yum Shrimp Flavour Instant Noodles

So far I’ve been so pleased with the Vina Acecook products. Everything’s been so nice about them. So let’s try a new one – a bowl noodle this time.

Everything individually wrapped – kind of nice! A noodle block on the left then top left clockwise we have paste soup, powdered soup base, veggies and a little naruto peeking and seasoned oil . Four seasoning packets – niceness! Oh – I failed to take a pic but there’s also an included fork which will be in the update of the included forks which I’ll do in a bit.

Clockwise from top left: seasoned oil, veggies, soup paste and powdered soup base.

Threw in a couple fried eggs, a little garlic salt, a little Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning and a couple drops of Crystal Louisiana Hot Sauce. The noodles stay firm and absorb a good amount of the flavor. The veggies came up nicely and were abundant. The broth is very tasty – a lot of citrus, shrimp flavor and warmth. The other things I threw in added to it and made it all very nice. I loved it – 4.25 out of 5.0 stars – excellent meal!
