Lunch (click to enlarge)!!!So I decided to have some of the Nongshim Jinjja Jinjja that they sent me a while back for lunch. I’ve reviewed it before – here’s the link. I added a slice of cheese, Crystal hot sauce, some Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake, an egg that I boiled with the noodles, some new odeng and onions. Oh – and of course kimchi! This is the first instant noodle that I devoured with the help of chopsticks! Yep – The Ramen Rater is going to be a chopstick eater! Funny; I wasn’t able to use them very well before but I tried them with kimbap, then some yakisoba I had at a restaurant and finally today and I’m stoked! Woot woot!

#912: Maruchan Instant Lunch Shrimp Flavor Ramen Noodles With Vegetables
Here’s another one of Maruchan’s Instant Lunches – who would think that I wouldn’t have reviewed it until now… Weird! But here’s the shrimp instant cup!
Here are the ingredients and directions from the cardboard outer (click to enlarge).
The majestic iconic cup!
The lid.
The noodle block.
Here are the veggies and some shrimp!
Finished (click to enlarge). Added shrimp that were marinated in Crystal hot sauce, hard boiled egg with some Krazy Mixed Up Salt and a sprinkle of Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. Okay so the noodles: very light and thin. Buttery texture. The broth is nice – very calming and light with a nice shrimp taste I enjoyed. The bits and pieces of dehydrated shrimp and veggies were good too and re-hydrated nicely. I’m impressed with this one; really didn’t expect it to be this good! 3.75 out of 5.0 stars – a very good cup of noodles! UPC bar code 041789001253 – get it here.

#795: Master Kong Red Oil Dan Dan Noodles
Here’s another one that Bo H. sent me from China! Thanks again! So what are Dan Dan noodles? here’s what Wikipedia says:
Dandan noodles or Dandanmian (traditional Chinese: 擔擔麵, simplified Chinese: 担担面) is a classic dish originating from ChineseSichuan cuisine. It consists of a spicy sauce containing preserved vegetables (often including zha cai, 榨菜, lower enlarged mustard stems, or ya cai, 芽菜, upper mustard stems), chili oil, Sichuan pepper, minced pork, and scallions served over noodles.
Alrighty then, let’s give it a try!
I cut and pasted all the text from the lid and scanned it. Click to enlarge.
Hey – chopsticks!
Here’s the big packet of spicy paste.
That’s a lot of goopy stuff – looks spicy!
The vegetables.
Looks like a nice little bunch of veggies.
Then there’s this little pouch with little hard things in it…
I ate one and I think they get sprinkled on top at the end.
Finished. Interesting… This one was fun to try; I’m really looking forward to these Master Kong’s as they’re huge in China and these aren’t available around this neck of the woods, that’s for sure. The noodles aren’t bad, – there’s a lot of them too. The flavor is a little bit spicy and a bit greasy. The veggies are nice. The only problem here is it seems kind of bland to me. Could use a little more flavor I think. 2.75 out of 5.0 stars.UPC bar code 6903252084818 .

#643: Wei Chuan Instant Noodle Soup Miso Vegetables Flavor
Here’s another pack from Michelle L. of New York – thanks! The last Wei Chuan I tried was tomato flavor and quite good – let’s see how this one is.
I cooked them according to the instant directions (steeping)
Powdered seasoning and veggies on the left and seasoned oil on the right.
Just add 450mL boiling water and cover for a few…
Finished. Added a fried egg with a little pepper and Cavender’s Greek seasoning. The noodles are nice – abundant and fluffy – almost a slight butteriness to them. The veggies are great. The broth was a little interesting; the miso was a little funny tasting but was okay. Not my favorite but not bad ast all. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars. UPC barcode 072869241313 .

#558: Long Kow’s Crystal Noodle Soup Vegetables ( and Eggs )
Thought this looked worth trying. Vegetables and noodles. Sure why not.
Here’s the flavoring packet if you want to call it that. It says Vegetables and Eggs though… I am truly unhappy – I didn’t take a picture of this and I’m really bummed and truly sorry. It looked like a brick of freeze-dried vegetable omelet. When I poured boiling water on it, it disintegrated and started fluffing up almost immediately.
Here’s the ingredients and nutrition facts off the side of ther bowl.
Yeah… There it is. Well, it wasn’t what I’d hoped for. What did I hope for? A good bowl of noodles. I was skeptical when I saw they were bean thread. The large amount of mushroom and cabbage and odd hydrated egg was amazing. I think if this were spicy and they’d used fried noodles that I would have liked it much better. Long story short, I’m not pleased. 1.5 out of 5.0 stars. Find it here.
